New car has arrived!
Hi Everyone
I'm a happy man! I picked up my new 1990 928 S4 Marine Blue Metallic (35V). 32,600 km's mileage. Originally a Japanese market car, imported into NZ a few years ago.
It has a full leather interior with a dark blue and Linen colour combo. The hatch option sticker is missing (they seem to on these imports as I have seen it before) so I'm unsure of anything beyond what I can see with the full leather.
I got the TB/WP tensioners done before I received the car.
The good:
Exterior in very good condition except for one issue - below.
Interior very tidy except for a couple of things - below.
Car very clean re oil leaks.
The things to be worked on:
There is a small patch of corrosion near the drivers side mirror - read some old posts about this here it looks to have happen on a few cars and isn't a major job to take care of.
Top right corner of the dashboard near the windscreen a patch of the leather is munted - heavily damaged from sun/heat.
Glove box and possibly centre console are misaligned - glove box has a gap at the top of the door which looks larger than it should be.
The dash board has suffered some movement from heat (stitching movement) but is in good condition except for the patch.
The fuel gauge/sender? is possible iffy - I filled to what showed as a half tank, did a few km's and now it is below quarter tank warning light on. I have a heavy foot but not that heavy.
Head unit is ancient and will be replaced on Wednesday with an Alpine unit and Rockford Fosgate amp.
Posts from other owners have been incredibly helpful for me, I love cars but am mechanically challenged. I read the get together meetings in the US with admiration (amazing garages guys!) and a little bit of regret that I am at the other end of the world and can't take part.
All of these things are reasonably cosmetic and I'll pick up off over time, my better half is watching me like a Hawke as I've had a bumpy ride with cars in the last few years - worthy of another thread - so I need to be careful when I spend cash on the 928.
Some photos t hopefully show her off in the right way!
Cheers
Richard

Welcome.
If you haven't already, join the NZ 928 group on yahoo. Not as active as Rennlist but a good way of getting local help and contacts.

Great car, minor issues, need some engine shots, very low miles. What kind of PO maint. history do you have?
Also, steering wheel is on wrong side but a few aussie girls in the photos would help us to overlook it.
Welcome aboard!

Congratulations, and enjoy.
Looks like you're parked at Castor Bay? Born in Auckland, lived mostly in the Forrest Hill/Milford area for 25 years and a couple in the Waikato as a kid.
You'll find most, if not all the info you need here on Rennlist to maintain the car, from changing a bulb to all the major jobs.
I'll drop you a PM re a mechanic for the things you don't want to tackle.
Cheers,
Ryan

Lovely car. Congrats.
If you post the VIN, there are a couple folks on here who will tell you what options it came with. There's an "Official VIN Check" thread on here, it's dropped back a couple pages. Post the VIN in there and you'll have an answer in a day or so.

Now that's a beautiful car!
No sunroof?
Mine's also an ex-Japan RHD car with no sunroof - higher mileage than yours at 51K kms when bought in February, its been my weekday driver since.
Mine's also got a couple of warped trim areas (the rear roof lining and one of the rear quarter trim pieces, in my case).
I've had Stu Ashby at Aero Automotive (Porsche Specialist) in Mangere chase up some niggles from age-related wear, and have only great things to say about him and his team.

Cheers guys. Yip photos taken at Castor Bay - good spotting!
Unfortunately I'll start another thread as I had a bit of a frustrating development today
