euro 928

I have found a very nice 1984 5 speed, interior is very very nice. recent paint that is nice as well, i would rate the car an 8 out of ten. everything works as it should except the power seats. runs straight and strong. 2nd gear synchro is a little worn but it still still shift well.

thoughts on what this would be worth?

thanks

What are they asking for it?

post pictures of the interior, engine bay, etc. No way to handicap without seeing it.

Five speed is a plus. Euro may also be a plus. Repaint is a minus, even if well done. Color change in the repaint is a big big minus. However, mileage seems to be the biggest value driving force. If the car, as described, has say 30K miles it might be worth in the upper teens. If 130K, then more likely $4K to $5K. I am going to guess that the mileage is about 90K to 100K and they are just about right in there with the price. However, you ought to be able to get it for about $5K.

Again, if as described, an 8, in all respects. However, it may be that with the seats not working and the worn syncros, it may be only a 5 or 6 in those respects.

Good to have someone expert in the 928 look it over, paint to sell is generally a big minus.

The interior is "very very nice" - which helps.

Decent repaints are pretty rare..

If it got resprayed in original colour with the glass out and there are no paint/masking lines along the edges of the window trim or where the mirrors attach to the doors, and no overspray on front spoiler etc. then it could be worth as much as $10-12k IMO.

If the paint was done with glass in and trim on, or a colour change, that drops it a lot.

I'd say depending on mileage and quality of paint job, and including the benefit of the interior, its value is anywhere between $5k and $12k. Running Euro's with poor paint/interior are a sub-$3k proposition.

And all this makes no account for the running condition of the engine :) It it runs badly, take an axe to the figures I made up.

And lastly, lots of receipts for work done don't make any difference to the value, just to the ownership experience. As avid 928 fans, we might appreciate the maintenance, but the average buyer doesn't give a crap that the MAF was rebuilt, just that it runs like a Porsche should.

Most 84 euro's have an issue with 2nd gear thanks to an awesome amount of power to weight (pre-Borg Warner sync's). If you can get it for the lower end of what they are asking... TAKE IT! You wont regret it. A few small "upgrades" and that car will bring you MUCH rewards!
