No, if the air injection has been removed it shouldn't pass smog. That's a modification to the emissions system, a no-no. In CA the seller is responsible for smogging the car within the previous 90 days of a sale so as long as that's been done the buyer should be OK... For two years.

This GTS has the first ever flush center console conversion that Nicole put me onto to inspire me to do the conversion that I developed for all the cars. In these pictures it looks like it is coming loose in places.

It may well be a nice example but those wheels- urrrgh! I just do not get 19 inch wheels on a 928- to me they just look wrong- plain and simple but hey maybe I am the oddball on that one- the proportions are all wrong somehow.
Nothing against 19 inch wheels- they look well on an M3 for instance but not on a 928. Now put some 18 inch 3 piece wheels on that car- another proposition altogether- my 2c.
Regards
Fred

Fred - I've seen Keith's car with those wheels - and whilst I'm not a huge fan of that design - I think the 19" look rather good on the car. These were very nicely made wheels - but they always reminded me of the Iron Cross... I think a rather more Porsche like design in 19" could look very good too (better even).
Now a 19" wheel on a 928 is likely a lot more delicate than a 17" - beware of potholes.

Fred: I can tell you that the Porsche engineer I have talked to about this just shudders when he hears about 19", or even 18" wheels on the 928. He says the car is not designed for so little rubber on the wheels, and it puts a lot of wear on suspension components and body. So, if you want worn out bushings, or can't get enough of squeaks and rattles... of if you just want to look pretty - which this car surely does.

The reason why it can pass SMOG with air injection off is most of the smog stations are not educated on what to look for on our cars. Most of them approach it like "if it passes the sniff test then everything else must be on there and working".
This has been my experience anyways.

When those wheels were made for the car, 19's were few and far between, none available with the correct offsets. I knew the car pretty well during its SoCal Widom years, and it's safe to say that no expense was spared in support of the car. Keith is/was one of the most fanatical 928 enthusiasts I've had the pleasure of knowing. If the current owner has not damaged the car, it's a great buy at that price.
