Default Buying a S4

I recently looked an an S4 auto and had some concerns.
1. Torque tube noise (seller says) intermittent grinding noise sounds like bad bearing(s) pretty simple, if I did the repair myself what are some recommended "While you're there" repairs.
2. ODOMETER! I've heard you can get some cogs and fix it yourself or just ship it to Ca.?
3.Antilock brake warning. It's on and don't know why. Felt fine when I drove it no chatter I assume it's a bad sensor on the driver's side, but I did notice cross drilled rotors.
Thoughts?

Model year? Mileage?

Our suggestion is to always have a detailed PPI performed by a 928-savvy mechanic before any purchase.

I'm sure there are plenty of other issues you have not yet discovered.

What year?

Flex Plate check?

Odo gear is a pretty simple fix, Dwayne's writeup covers it very well.

Never believe an owner on a cause or extent.. PPI is the way to go - with an experienced 928 wrench.

There are many more things that could need work - (may not be immediately obvious...) - so find out before you buy.

make sure the cooling fans work correctly. There is never a situation where only one works (something I wish I'd known before buying mine...but oh well). If only one is working, then the other will only run in full power mode (loud), and will cycle on and off about every 20 seconds as the system tries to restart the inop fan - which is either a bad fan or a bad final stage controller (looks like a small amplifier passenger side front of engine bay).

Does the ABS light come on as soon as the car is started? If so, it might be something other than a sensor.

Sorry, it's a 1987 w/ 128,xxx on the odo but the owner says 132,xxx miles would be more accurate, so I have to assume it has about 300,xxx. Those three issues are my main concern since I have never had those issues with my GT I wanted to make sure these issues are not a common engineering issue with this particular model year.

The cooling fans worked fine on my test drive and the louvres still worked as well, thanks Cap

I did notice oil seepage on the cam cover, and an exhaust leak at the down pipe cat connection but nothing major.

As others have mentioned, get a PPI, then if you want to deal you have leverage and peace of mind.

Almost hate to ask... But what happened to your GT?
