Farewell. My baby gets picked up tomorrow
My baby has sold. I decided to sell her to a fellow Rennlister. I never put her up for sale- I just PM'd someone who had once asked me to let them know if I ever wanted to sell my mint 928. The transport company is coming tomorrow at 6pm. I'll miss my 928. It's been my favorite car ever. My 4th 928. My oldest car ever. It's been reliable and thrilling to own and drive. The new owner is getting a bad *** 928! I feel it's going to a good home. Just wanted to thank you all here for five years of great info. The support for 928's is unmatched thanks to Rennlist and the vendors who specialize in them. I really believe the 928's day will come - when they are worth what 911's are getting. So long for now - but I'm sure I'll be back some day.

I always loved that one. A great color combo. Glad it is going to a good home.

I didn't "have" to sell it. I never planned to sell it. I loved it deeply....then I went and bought an old Ferrari. For decades I wanted one and finally said to myself "Just do it". I liked the idea of having them both (Weird Science collection), but the reality for me is two is really one too many. The Ferrari is "new" and was getting all my attention. The 928 just rolled to 98k miles and I felt - all of a sudden -(and after five years) it was time to let her go.
I can say without a doubt that the 928 is superior in every single way; Quality, performance, comfort, reliability and value, but having a gated shifter, mid engine, convertible with back seats for my boys has a lot of pluses too. Took the whole family out yesterday - even the dog. Pure fun!
Still, I look at the 928 in my garage and think to myself I'm crazy to let her go. Just that the deal has been done since the end of April. It's the first time I sold a car and had to keep looking at it for two more months....extends the goodbye too long IMHO. I like the fast deals better - like ripping off a band-aid. She'll be gone in @3 hours - off to Maine by truck.
Thanks for the compliments on my 928 and five years of learning so much about these amazing OB's! They really are a different experience than the later cars. (The same but different.)

And thanks to David for being a class act! It will be cared for and loved as much as David did. My first Pcar was a 79 928 that I bought in 1983 and sold in 2001 with 330k miles. It had 90k when I bought her. So David's will replace the hole I've had in my heart for 13 years. 911's just don't do it for me.
