Home Made Cabin Air Filter

Burning Brakes
I fashioned a cheap and improvised cabin filter on my 1983. I have not seen anyone else provide photos yet but the concept worked and I will admit I have not checked how much debris it caught but I would do it again.
"...I wanted to filter the air going into the HVAC system and found some lightweight filters that would not impede the airflow but catch the bigger debris (from Lowes). These 3M Filtrete 20"x25" filters were just over $2 for a two pack, the price was the same no matter the size. I cut out a portion and stuffed it into the HVAC box to form a pocket for more surface area and slid the boot over it for a seal. I think it will work well and I cannot tell any difference in airflow."

Good to know that's working for you, post of pic when you take it out to clean.
I think that is an easier and a way most would want to do it w/o cutting anything, however in reading the previous posts it is a smaller area and also it could let go and hit the resistor pack which would be my first fear.
It seems like Gary N. had a great idea and used a wire frame and placed it inside, as I would like it to look like its not there w/o the over lap of filter, but like you sad it does work and something is better that nothing.
Now I'm just wondering if I can get away w/ a smaller than the stock large hole and still fit a stock filter?
Thanks for sharing,
Dave
