More starting issues
Drove the car 200 miles and it ran great. When I got to destination I did a few 5 mile trips. Next short trip it almost stalled 4 or 5 times when doing 35 mph then just stalled. Coasted off the road but it restarted straight away. Drove it back to where I was staying and it stayed there for 2 days. Needed to get it home so started the drive but after 10 miles it started to run roughly and actually backfired. Dropped the revs and cruised at 55 mph for 10 miles slowly building to 85 mph and got it home 180 miles with no trouble.
Next morning tried to start it and nothing, it just cranked. Left it for 3 days and tried again and after a lot of cranking it actually started but died quickly, started and backfired, started and idled fine for about 5 minutes. Stopped it and it would not restart!!
Did an intake refresh replacing all sensors, icv, leads, distributors, coils, 53 relays, cleaned ALL grounds, ignition switch and fuel pump about 10000 miles ago.
Given it ran strong on the way home I have an intermittent issue but not sure where to start?

Your car is newer than mine (82) but I had a similar issue last fall and found a fix that may apply to yours. See the end of this thread and pay attention to the explaination about the 12V lead from the starter to the alternator and then from the alt to the EFI system.
Hope this helps - Ruf

What Colin said^^^
get some deoxit spray and use it on the CE panel ,
pay close attention to the fuel pump fuse and the running relays.

Thanks Ruf, Colin and Mrmerlin.
I have some checking to do before I sort this out. Have been waiting to do TB, WP with new cam gears and engine wiring harness. While doing that I will fix injector harness and MAF wiring.
I have replaced the fuel pump, filter and in tank screen, but will check. Also checked fuel relay and fuse. Have found a local supplier for deoxit so that will be the first thing and see how things go after that.
It will be a while before I can get back to it but will report back.
Thanks again.
