Default Caused during pod removal?

I recently removed my instrument pod to replace some burnt bulbs and a broken odometer gear. The car ran fine the day before doing this.

After pulling and re-installing the the pod, the car stumbles at idle and often stalls (problem lessens after the engine has warmed up). Car does not stumble or die otherwise.

The power to the radio has also started cutting on and off a lot. It would do this on rare occasions for a few months prior to the pod pull, but now it happens all the time.

Does it sound as if wiring to the ignition switch has been disturbed or could the switch itself be giving up? (it's original)

I know there are other things that could cause this, but thought it would be a weird coincidence that it all started after pulling the pod. Just want to get an opinion on any obvious cause related to pulling the pod before investigating other causes.

Thanks.

That's what I was thinking it may be after reading some other threads. Think it could just be something loose to the ignition switch or do you think I should just go ahead and put in a new one?

If it's not sorted out in time, it's going to be Toyota Solara in the Mountains for me.

See you in a couple weeks!

Sounds like a bad ground.

I think most likely it is the ignition switch - Pod grounds would affect the Pod but not much else...

Switches are pretty cheap, although you might have pulled something loose, I'd plan on changing the switch.....

Solara! Just bought one for my daughter as a replacement car / graduation gift......I kinda like it myself.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll go ahead and replace the switch (as well as look for anything I may have loosened while I was in there). Nothing else is acting flaky, just the stalling and radio power.

Yeah, the Solara is a pretty nice car, just not as fun driving 10 hours in one to North Carolina as is in the 928...I'd miss the fun of monitoring temperature and oil gauges for signs doom the whole ride down.

Well, I've ordered a new switch and plan on installing it. The radio is still flaky, but it turns out the ignition switch wasn't the source of the stumbling and stalling.

While changing the coolant today, I noticed one of the big intake rubber boots had a couple nice big splits in it. Swapped it with an old one that was laying around and no more stalling. The boot wasn't that old, but was totally shot. It happened to choose the same day the pod was removed to crap out. I just didn't think to look since it was so coincidental the problems began after putting the pod back in.

At least you found it! Good job. Yea, not so fun when you got no worries! Lol. I was actually in talks with daughter to let me borrow her solara for the weekend, but I might be riding up in The Fixers 928 RS...WOOT!
