Default adjusting ride height 1985 Auto S2 - who's done this?

I've had several goes (i.e. different days - given up and come back for another go) at trying to shift the notched nut at the bottom of the shock spring. I've soaked it in enough penetrating oil to float the car! Still I can't shift that nut a single mm. I've jacked up the corner I am trying to adjust by the way.
I've put an extension bar to increase torque but the darn C-spanner thing just slips off - or I cant shift it. Surely its not meant to be this hard is it?
I even tried using a spring compressor to see if that helped. Wound it up and compressed the spring, soaked it in more penetrating oil, hit it with a hammer, shouted at it, but still can't move the bloomin' nut.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there some trick to this? I need to adjust all four corners - and still haven't moved the first one a mm!

These adjusters freeze up with corrosion. There's no "trick" or locknut. You're applying "the usual" to the problem. Maybe you can apply a little heat. I'd be concerned about damaging the shock, though.

Usually, people report that the fronts just go around as the nut is stuck and the whole collar rotates around the shock.

If you really want this then you may have to remove the coil-over assemblies to free up the adjusters.

Is there a height or evenness issue or d'ya just want it lower?

And of course if you remove the shocks and springs....probably time for new shocks

I'm in the middle of trying to adjust the height, I found the rear adjusters were seized, stripped down the shocks and tried heat, but this didn't work, in the end we cut off the adjuster nut and found the nut had scored the thread. Out fitter/turner at work said he could turn up some more adjustment nuts ( which he has done) along with some back nuts.

On the fronts as mentioned already the sleeves turned on the shocks, next step is to strip down the shocks and remove the adjustment nut and sleeve, bore out the sleeve from the nut and then turn up some new sleeves.. Hopefully to be finished tomorrow..

Good used adjusters are available from 928 international. Before you spend big bucks on making new pieces, find out how easy it is to have pieces show up at your door. Adjusters we got for a recent project car here were excellent, already cleaned up and ready to install, with a little anti-seize added.

Thanks for the advice, the reason I was trying to adjust was to increase ride height to factory spec. The car is running about 10mm too low.
I was advised by previous owner (i've had car since 2010) that shocks had been changed - I assume he'd neglected to replace the springs or set the car too low. Its always been too low since I've owned it.
My next plan will be to try lowering before increasing height. I.e. turn the nut anti-clockwise and try to effectively 'break or loosen' the bond before trying to adjust back up by turning clockwise.... Or maybe I just forget it. :-(
