Electric fuel pump replacement

Okay so I have the full workshop manuals and could not find the fuel pump. I'm just a dumb guy, but hey after crawling around and looking in the obvious places I found it.

Well it's hidden in an indentation at the gas tank, with a cover over it so as to make you think you are just looking at the back of the tank or the shield. This is what it looks like.

I am embarassed to tell how long it took me to find it.

Don't be, my mechanic couldn't find it either until I researched the manual and showed him where was.

You might want to think about installing a copy of the Porsche PET if that is still possible. It is full of exploded views of the various assemblies. They are there for calling out the part numbers, but can be a very useful addition to the WSM for figuring out where things are, how they come apart, and how they go together. Though they are big, there is a lot not covered in the WSM.

You have an excellent resource here with rennlist most if not all of your questions have been answered here, debated , discussed and cussed at multiple times. Like if you are looking for the fuel pump.....search here. Far more productive than crawling around under the car....plus you get warnings about tweaking the metal hard line from filter to pump and how you NEED new crush washers. Even ways to determine if you really NEED a fuel pump. I just searched for 928 fuel pump location and it 10 seconds I found it !!! amazing what information is available at our finger tips.

Those photos are old, posted here to make a photo contribution and for anyone who may have come along lately who might be interested.

At the time I was looking, I was not online, with paper references and or on my back looking in all the anticipated places. I'll resort to research here, most likely next big ticket issue will be the rack and pinion.

regards,

P
