need help with drivers side window issue
My drivers side window when rolled partially down will make a bang when I hit a sizeable bump, or if I shut the door with it not all the way up or down. The window itself can be rocked back and forth when you grab it from the front.
Anyone have an idea what causes this? I've looked around inside the door but dont see anything that jumps out at me. The passanger side is nice and tight.
I currently have the inner door card off while fixing a broken door handle and would like to get this sorted out before buttoning things back up as it can be quite annoying.
Thx

Loose guides - indicated by the fact that your window can be rocked back and forth.
Since you have the door card off... lower the window to half open and try to move the window and look at the two white plastic window guides.

I looked at those plastic guides, but not sure how to tell if there wore out? There is a good amount of play around the holes, should they be snug?

Mj,
Examine everything closely as you raise and lower the window w/ panel off.
Also, i just epoxied my door handles (typical area, cracks developing)
But when installing i used 2 SOFT rubber washers to cushion between
the repaired door handle and metal washers.
It works very well, less twist required to snug everything up.
Cheap ($3) 2 part quick setting epoxy from Harbor Freight worked well
on the door handle plastic btw. Scuff the plastic (sand paper) and reinforce it
I laminated thin black abs plastic (from a storage bin) and epoxied
to reinforce these handle mounts.
seems to be working well.
Good luck,
Matt

I'll follow through with your recommendations.

If there is a lot of play you should replace the guides - you already have done most of the labor.

Until you can get the guide and replace it, you can place a nylon zip tie around the guide ring to take up the play as a temporizing measure. Just make sure the guide is a tightened down unlike the pic.

MJ, take a look at my posts from a few days ago, just replaced my four guides from Roger, also get the little black rubber female guide in the bottom of the tube, mine were BOTH in 2-3 pieces, this lets the tube flop around, mine is nice and tight now, all parts for both doors were a touch under $100. this includes 2 guides for each door, and the bottom female grommet thingy. clean everything really good, especially the tube, or it'll wad al lthe crap into the new guides. Also check the felt guides inside both doors, each door has two. they hold the window from coming in towards the interior. i replaced the felt on mine, the rubber stops underneath were ok on mine. hope this helps.
