Default Auto Upholstery in Las Vegas

Does anyone have any experience with any upholstery shops here in the Las Vegas area. I am looking to get my seats redone in vinyl or vinyl and cloth.

Me too! Let me know what you find! Everyone I know that has taken a 928 to an upholsterer, is not happy with the results, and are charged out the ear for all the labor. I would recommend going on classic9 and buying the upholstery kit, and having a professional install that with new padding.. It will save you some money, and come out 1000x better!

I might take it in to a couple of places and see what they say. I am thinking of replacing some of the brown with black....maybe the insert parts of the seats and cassette box cover....I am on ebay and CL nightly looking for options....no luck as of yet.

How about this idea for both of you? I just talked to my friend, Doug, here in Grand Junction, CO, at Classic & Street Rod Interiors, who does my interior work, with some input by me, mainly with design and some of the restoration, and he and I suggest that both of you guys consider bringing your 928s here for the 928 Function we are having July 3 to 6, starting Thursday. When you get here we can take your seats out and turn them over to Doug to start work on and then install some loaner seats that I have so you will have a way to drive your cars and take part in the Function. Then, since it will take Doug a couple of weeks to do the seats, you could drive your cars home with the loaner seats and wait for a couple of weeks for Doug to do yours over then he and maybe he and I can bring them down to LV and trade them out.

If you have any interest in this idea let me know and I'll put you in touch with him and you can talk about the price(s) and other details like materials and such.

It probably will work only if both of you are interested since the cost of delivery of the finished seats may not be justified for only one set.

Come on Jerry.....you know that would be well over my 200 mile towing limit with AAA....
Seriously though I have a lot I need to do maintenance wise before I would drive that far. What is the ballpark price anyways?

Sorry, Hayden. I didn't realize that you might have to push the 928 up here at this point. What about the idea that you take the seats out and send them up here on the bus. Then Doug might do the same thing or just send the finished seats back on the bus.

Doug says that, based on the seats that he has done for me and what he expects with the earlier seats, the price to do the driver and pass seats will be in the neighborhood of $1000 to $1500 for the pair. This does not include the back seats in regard to which I told him I wasn't sure what you had in mind. In vinyl or vinyl and cloth, as you propose, the pair of seats will be at the lower end of that price range. Leather at the upper end.

Have I told you anything about the taller center console glove box that I make? I would do one of those with your seat project for $300, in the same cover you select for the seats. $350 in leather.

Come July I may be interested in this.. I have never taken the car on a trip further than 75 mile round trip. Then again, what's the point of owning the car if I only drive stoplight to stoplight in Las Vegas? I think this would he a lot of fun, minus my ac not working!

I've got a set of coverings for 928 regular comfort seats, both fronts, black, vinyl, perforated inserts, 78-84, all vinyl, both electric, for $600.
Regular price is $850.

They were ordered some time ago and the customer changed his mind. I forgot they were here.

Taking my 928 in to Monges on Monday. I will post the before and after pictures next week. The cost is going to be $500 for the job.

What will they be doing for $500 and how long will it take? It might be worth the drive to Vegas.

He will be recovering the front seats in dark brown vinyl and dark brown perforated vinyl that matches the original brown leather seats. Ed said he does good work so I am giving him a shot.

Please let me know how he does. If it's good, I'll do my fonts and backs. Text or call soon and we can get these acs worked on!

I will post pics...I am waiting for the Passat blower motor I orders to come in still. Also have my sons out here till mid July so everything is on hold till then. The process I outlined in the AC thread has given me decent enough AC to get me by so far this Summer.

Including vinyl for the full seats including the backs and any needed foam?
