Funny I came SO CLOSE to buying that car back in 2008 when you bought it.

I just got an instaVIN and an Autocheck on an 84 928 that I just bought. They were both cheaper than car fax (I think $6 for instaVIN and about $35 for Autocheck, I think) and I was after historical information more than accident information. I think Autocheck is roughly comparable to Carfax, and instaVIN is pretty spartan compared to Autocheck/Carfax. As to the information I found, nothing turned up before 1990, at which point both instaVIN and Autocheck registered titles at about 45000 miles. Autocheck continued to list registrations throughout the 90s and into the 2000s. Then in 2008, both listed a new title (for the owner that I bought the car from). Registrations continued on Autocheck up until 2011 when the car was garaged.
So, I'm not sure how accurate the information is before 1990 or if there will be any. That's from my one data point.

Is there an add I would love to see more pictures. I am looking to buy one and have interest in yours if the other buyer falls through. If it is very well sorted it may be out of my price range.
