Just noticed a new series of Classic Car Rescue starting on Channel 5 on Monday 8pm. First episode - 'Cockney mechanic Bernie Fineman and Canadian car dealer Mario Pacione restore a classic Porsche 928 after years of water damage and neglect.'
Not seen this series before so no idea if it's any good but sounds like it could be interesting.

Oops sorry I spend most of my time on the 964 forum. Often thought about getting a 928 to fix up though.

Well, what a disappointment!
The same tedious format as the original series. It could have been any car.

So they bought a "91 GT manual for five and a half grand from Paul Anderson and spent seven on a service, TB, brakes, upholstery and respray. This was accompanied by the usual bickering and last minute hysteria.

The only interesting moment was when the vehicle was stuck on a dyno to check the performance. 347 bhp - not bad!

Was a good show, I enjoyed it. Turns out it was a black 1990 GT. Would like to know the name of the garage they bought it from. They had a lot of 928s sitting around, would be a good place to call for used parts in the UK.

Anyway they bought a GT, stripped it down for a full re-spray, new interior, engine and break service. They didn't do the cambelt and I'm sure there is a bunch of other stuff that should have been done that wasn't. This became evident when the car was sitting ticking over at the track and a coolant pipe burst. That aside the engine did seem in good condition, they got over 340bhp on the rolling road and it was going well on the track until the coolant pipe burst. The guy who valued it put £13k on it.

Being a bit of a sucker I texted in and entered the competition.

I wondered that but wasn't sure.

I'm fairly sure I heard them say they did the cam belt.

OK so paid 5,500 spent 7,000 now in it 12,500 and it gets "appraised" at 13 K !!

Maybe I misheard but I thought I heard him say something along the lines of you could see it had been done.

When they say they spent 7k I wonder if that included time. We didn't see them spend a whole lot on parts.

I'd say the £7k includes labour. Paul quoted me £3k for a respray, did my brakes for about a grand and TB/WP for just over £500. The electrics, service and upholstery would be around the extra two and a half grand.
