So I'll get those on order and continue with jumping between the body work and the motor till I get it sorted. The problem is the fuel pump only runs if I jump the relay and if not only runs briefly after an attempted start. I've always been attracted to 928s I'm a sucker for the sharp styling but when I came across a twin dizzy for the price I couldn't pass up taking a shot at a restoration of one. I would like to source a 84 5 speed and swap it while I have the car torn down. Also the car is triple green witch my upholsterer was not happy with, but he'll make it right. Thanks guy I'll keep you updated.
Well, a bit of "Captain Obvious" here, but if one of the caps was 'crumbling to dust', then the other is probably not too far behind. I'd suggest changing both caps & rotors. They are the same as the 944, so fairly easy to find. Bosch is preferred (duh), but you can find others, even at AZ or O'Rs (one of the very few parts I've been able to find at those kinds of stores).
If you go to one of those stores, DO NOT ASK FOR 928 parts.
They won't understand what a "Euro" is and will try to give you the wrong stuff. Ask for 944 parts.

Also, the fuel pump will always shut down 'after an attempted start'. The LH "sees" if the motor is turning and if it's not, won't run the pump (safety feature).

Good for you A. The smart people on here will help get that car running. At the rime, I had delusions of buying it and putting that motor in a cleaner 5sp chassis. Are you in the Reno/Tahoe area? Michael
