It really is a great car for the money. If it were a 5 speed it would already be in my garage, but as it stands, I am selling a 87 AUTO myself.

Truth!

Any idea if the fuel lines were replaced and also what is the mileage?

This would be a great jumping in point for a new owner. $6000 plus $5000 ready to go on parts and such.

Michael, I have no knowledge of everything that has been done to the car. I have personally only worked with the interior of this car.

If you (or anyone else) has questions the seller listed his cell phone number as the contact point in the ad. Super nice guy and very knowledgeable.

I cannot imagine a needing a $5000 budget for repairs IMHO.

^^^Always put aside $5000 for any 928. You may not need it-but it just takes one or two things in one year...

Hello. I was very happy to have seen this thread about this particular car. As it turns out, I am possibly going to pick this up on Saturday after a 5 hour drive. I have a PPI scheduled at a local EURO shop in Chat' town tomorrow but if there is anything you could tell me about it, I would be quite appreciative. Thanks-Ryan

The seller told me that he wholesaled it to a dealer over the weekend.
It has a newer WP/TB and the highest quality Audio system I have seen in a 928.
I have a lot of details on the car but I would put more credence in the PPI than the opinion of a friend of the owner.

If you need any extra info I will be with the PO all day tomorrow. PM your number to me and I am sure he could take a few minutes to call you and talk about it.

WOW! I have been a member of this site for less than 5 hours (and joined specifically due to the potential purchase of this car) and have already learned tons and now bumped into a friend of the PO. I have the dealer he sold it to taking it to a local shop there in town for a PPI (**fingers crossed**) and if everything comes back positive, I plan on driving down on Saturday to pick it up. I would like to speak to the PO but mostly am interested in the receipts for the maintenance that he has performed while he has owned it. I am just nervous about buying a car that is going to need tons of $$ dumped into it before I can even enjoy it. I am aware that it will need tires (VERY SOON) but the other stuff is just info that I have gathered from the dealer he sold it to. "Off the record"...anything you could tell me about the car would be VERY helpful. I will PM you my # and you could either call or text me.

AWW, COME ON. mediped, someone knows the story on this car. Yeah the pics show some rear bumper cover damage, and a respray, but if you are local and know the PO, you gotta know a little bit about the car. That being said, even buying my car on first sight from a used car lot without any fore knowledge of a porsche, let alone a 928, or RL advise, I love my 928 and the 5k car it is with almost 10k invested.

That Radio sticking out like it does is a sure sign of sloppy electric work, take a good look at the CE and look for chopped up and or burnt wiring.
Other than that, if you budget another $4k and stay close to that number, should be well bought if the PPI checks out.

I have had private contact with Ryan and have arranged a phone call with my friend the PO. I have stated that if it were a 5 spd I would already have it in my driveway(my garages are already full of 928's). I have driven the car (before the new wheels) and it ran as it should. I have never seen this car in any condition other than as pictured (2.5 years). Any body/paint work done on this car was done in the previous chain of ownership. This car was at SITM 2013 and seen by all who attended.

The reason I said what I did about the PPI is because I would tend to be more bright and shiney about the car because I know it and the PO. I would be more biased towards the car than the guy @ Bavarian Auto, which is a well know local shop. I have bought four of my seven 928's from eBay and have never gotten one sight unseen that are as nice as this car. If I had known that he was going to wholesale it to a dealer I might have bought it just to help him out and then flip but my 928 plate is full.

I am not aware of any reason NOT to buy this car and think it is a great entry point for a first time buyer. I would put the car, with the upgrades, mileage and maintenance history at $7500 for a quick sale or $8999 for the right buyer.

The OP should do what is right for his situation.

Again, I want to extent my gratitude for the feedback on this thread AND my original thread "to buy or not to buy". I respect the input of medipedicman and his stance on being a bit biased towards the car. As he mentioned, I sent him my cell # lastnight and look forward to speaking with the PO and using his input and the result of the PPI, I hope to trailer this baby home tomorrow night. The PO is supposed to have a cache of reciepts for previous work on the car so that will go a LONG way with me as well. I do also know that he has had work done on the car at the local Porsche dealership(after speaking with the service writer yesterday) so the story is starting to all come together. The last step, from my standpoint would be the test drive....Im a tall fella so as long as I fit we should be golden.

Well after the results of the PPI, tons of pics sent to me by the shop and a subsequent conversation with the PO, looks like Im headed South early in the morning! If all goes as planned, I will return to IN with a new family member and shop manual for her and a ton of very important receipts. I will post pics IF everything goes my way.
