Bertone built a 928/944 like prototype in 1963
1963 Chevrolet Testudo with design elements later picked-up by our beloved front engine Porsches.

Lot of similarities, uncanny.
Also reminds me of XKE. Glad our version relocated the engine to the front. |
wasn't Tony Lapine at GM for a time prior to his stint at Porsche?

Looks more like a Jag than a 928 to me.

after GM Tony took a stint at Opel, (black widow, Opel GT, Kadett etc) and left 1968 for Porsche after the "family" hired him while touring the R&D center in Ruesselsheim looking for input developing Weissach R&D. the "black widow" demolishing the Porsches in Hockenheim had a great influence in his hiring as well.

Ectutally, this was a design study done by Bertone coach works for the Chevy Corvair. You can see from the front, there is no radiator grill, and there is an air intake above the "Corvair" script and below the window. There was only one ever built, and the engine/trans combo is at the back in usual Corvair fashion.
I think it was called the Testudo as the internal name for it in Bertone or something. Here's another shot of it: http://iedei.files.wordpress.com/201...cept-1963.jpeg int pic: http://www.influx.co.uk/wordpress/wp...interior1.jpeg |
You can probably get a good deal on the Bertone name. They're in the Italian equivalency of bankruptcy at the moment....

Thanks for sharing, Nicole.
Pablo over at Flüssig did a nice write-up on this one: http://flussigmagazine.com/1/post/20...rsche-928.html |
