I built a Wilwood kit for an LS1 street e30 and got a test drive....I can only imagine the damage that could be done if it was track dedicated. 6500 rpm V8 and very light weight is a nasty combo.

Totally non racer WAG.
I was looking at the tach on the right and he was basically below 8,000 all the time and shifting at the shift light. The right hand tach looks like the old factory dash left setup so he could have a speedo.

I would WAG that the engine's redline wasn't the same as the factory redline indicated on the factory dash on the right. Again that's my WAG.

Internal combustion engines, in race cars, blow up. It's life.

The very best of pieces can and do fail.

Great pieces and great workmanship just reduce the odds.

I posted the dyno graphs of this engine, slightly modified with cams and ecu changes. its an 8000rpm shift point, no problem.
if the engine blew after after a few hours, something failed prematurely. probably was running mobil 1.

I don't think the M3 has revealed the official cause yet....but he will. He is very open about his success and failures. Same for Bill in the Corvette.....

MK you gotta come out for a NASA weekend with us. They will accept your license-medical and its only $359 for the weekend!!!!! I plan on running April 26-27 at thunderhill and the following event at Thunderhill in may

Really appreciated where the M3 parked- great front and rear view, and also Mark's duo Miata pass.
