center console refresh
i am doing ALL the might as wells that come into the hvac diaphragm job...
i am fixing and refinishing the center console. I am also converting from digital clock to round old OB analog... love the analog clocks....
I may also do a double din conversion.
I am repairing all the cracked pieces, etc.. i am also filling the grain and repainting the dash black ( i am converting from burgundy to black interior.
here are a few pics of the beginning of the center console refurb.. i will be adding to these as i progress...
I dont know how to add text with each photo.. sorry.. the descriptions will be all at the beginning.
This is me repairing the sided where the foam pulls away from the frame. I tried contact cement, but nothing really stuck, so i mixed up some west systems gflex epoxy.... it it awesome stuff... those with boats are familiar with west system.. probably the best epoxy out there..

I'm interested to see you handle the round analog clock conversion. I've given it thought, as the notion of a $400 clock to replace the silly digital clock just slays me.

i i cut and filled the rectangular hole that the digital clock fit in and am wrapping it in one of the 3M products (have not decided which yet) to hide the filling...
i filled with plastic epoxied in place and bondo to final fill and smooth.

i have used gflex quite a bit as i live at the beach and am an avid boater .. I restored a 1966 sagetta 30 sailboat and have worked on LOTS of boats..
West Systems is about as good as you can get when it comes to epoxy. The gflex is a fast cure flexable epoxy that i have used to adhere ( i had to say "glued together").LOTS of stuff over the years.. with good prep the stuff is amazing.

I also show the epoxy used to reattach the sides of the console that had pulled away.
sim coated with bondo, sanded and used high build sem primer... wet sanded and used a guide coat. painted, but did not like the sem gloss.. too glossy to i resanded and painted with a satin black sem
