There a spread between babying it, working it hard, and beating it. Beating the car is fun and exciting but it's not faster.
agreed.... there is a reason why its not faster, and its because you really want to have a shift well after the exit birm, not in or before it. before and after a apex usually, you are at a 0 acceleration situation. because of this, having the engine at high rpm , can hurt the engine and hurt your ability to put down the power through the exit.

I love 928s as much or more than anyone, I own 7 of them but any one who thinks a stock 928 oiling system is a good choice for a track/ race car is delusional.
Hmmmm you see what I have done with mine and its over many many years now..... so to not be interested or thinking what im doing is a one off or lucky, is being in denial.

What you're doing works for you but no one else has been able to reproduce your results. NOBODY!

As I've said before I'm definitely not the worlds greatest driver and I'm not egotistical enough to believe I have nothing left to learn but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only guy to down shift and throttle through a corner.

I think you are running a 4 speed like I raced for YEARS in the estate....what we did to make the "ghetto-quential" as we called it was this

Disconnect kickdown and bowden cable....then start in 2.....it will start in 1st gear off the line....quickly bump to 3 then back to 2.....this will hold 2nd FOREVER....until you shift to 3rd....then when you want 2nd you just slap it back to 2.....poor mans sequential for sure....works perfect... I also would adjust your vacuum modulator a bit....increase it (turn clockwise) 1/4 rotation...it will firm up shifts and shift speed quite a bit...

It will only shift gears when you move the lever....always start in 2....if you start in D it will almost instantly shift to 4....and lug like crazy....
I thought about it many many times but in the end - its not really going to add any time for me. Most of the AZ tracks I run are 2/3 gear tracks - never used 4th and doubt I ever will unless we have a mile long straight to use. I leave grid in first - go to second then up to third then back down to second for most of the corners. That's it - 2/3 - 3/2 all the way around.

BTW - did you ever sell that built LS motor??

Thats how we raced the estate....everything is 2-3-2 over and over again...since 3 is a 140mph gear!!!!

Still got the LS2....should be about 520hp-475ftlbs pm or email if you are interested
