86 Cross Brace Control Valve Relocation
I've always disliked the location Porsche had chose for the Fuel Vapor Control Valve on the 86/86.5 MY's. On the 85 MY it was bolted to a bracket the was Spot Welded to the Shock Tower, I'm guessing bolting it to the cross brace was an Assembly $ saving thing
Besides looking like an after thought add on, it get's in the way when working on the top of the engine, as I find removing the Cross brace necessary to safely remove the Cold Air Intake Tubes and Intake Plenums to access the Spark Plugs.
I've included a Pic of stock 85MY Valve position (blue car).
Here is my simple solution, and actually there is more room for the Intake Tubes than on the 85
1. Remove the Valve and the Clamp that is bolted to the Valve housing.
2. Remove the Hood Switch (it unplugs from the wire harness), remove from/through top of bracket.
3. Unbolt the Hood Switch Bracket from the car body.
4. Locate and drill a "bolt size" hole in the upper center of the bracket.
5. Clean and repaint the bracket
6. Cut back the Hose that goes to the Fuel Vent Valve.
7. May need to extend/ replace w/ longer Hose going to the Intake "T"
8. Bolt it all up and look at how nice it looks now
Hoping other 86/86.5 owners find this useful.

Wow, thanks for this idea. Great timing for me too!
I've never liked the original location and I am just (slowly) putting my 86.5 back together.
Thanks for sharing!
