Ford injectors without the groove, where do i cut it?

Default Ford injectors without the groove, where do i cut it?
Do i bottom out the injector against the rail/orifice and cut the groove where the clip would fit, or do i just cut the groove below that little lip on the top of the injector body?

acording to the print for theEV1 vs EV6 injectors the clip groove should be 3.3 to 3.6 mm below the bottom of the upper O-ring.
