Default 928 headers, part deux

Updated news on the obx knock-offs of the MSDS 928 32v exhaust headers;
as of January 31, 2014, obx will cease + desist all manufcturing, advertising and sales of the above noted exhaust headers. This includes Ebay stores, all obx distributors, and will be monitored by MSDS counsel, Fulwider+ Patton.
To all of our loyal MSDS distributors+ customers; thank you for using our U.S.A. manufactured upgrade products through the decades !

Well done, makes me happy that the system sticks up for protecting intellectual property, now and again.

Rob, Jeff, it also takes a decent war chest and an experienced counsel to protect ones IPR. In our President's State of the Union speech last week he emphasized buying U.S.A. mfg. Products....not Chinese. But the Commander in Chief dosen't pay my legal bills, nor enforce the counterfeits entering San Pedro or Long Beach harbors. It's personal with me, my name is on every product that leaves our plant.
From the archives, a pic of our 16v 928 headers from a "VW Porsche"
magazine article 1985.

Its a travesty especially for small business owners that our legal system requires one to suffer loss just to protect or defend oneself. The perps ought to be covering those costs IMHO, they are the bad guys.

22% bump in HP with the 16V headers...? Will keep those in mind for my 81. Do they hook up to the stock CAT or are they not CA-smog compliant?

Jeff, you know how difficult it would be for your niche business to compete with your own (specialized) parts
against a counterfeiter, underselling you. As far as the early 16v headers go... Racing use only 50 states, but a high flow cat can easily be slipped inline with the 3" exhaust pipe. PM me whenever you get the
urge to hot rod your '81!

Does this mean you are decreasing your prices???
Or increasing them to cover your costs?
I think you are to late as they already saturated the market - nice try though.

Did not work and they are still on eBay - ordered two sets before the lock.
Lots of 928 customers looking for reasonably prices headers if you changed your marketing you could sell lots.
I spent a lot of my corporate life trying to protect IPR as we set up companies in India and China - total waste of time and good money as they will always get around the rules.
Welcome to the real World.

looking at ebay just now looks like Fulwider and Patton need to earn their fees!!

So what are the actual differences in quality/performance and price??

IMO brand new prices for MSDS headers aren't bad at all, considering the costs of tooling and development. It's like someone here once said "go make your own pair of pants and see how easy it is".

I think OBX can undersell mostly from cheaper labour and maybe larger scale production, plus probably thinner stainless if they even are stainless.

The quality was excellent - never seen a set of Maltese Falcon headers so can't offer a comparison.
How can you protect a product that was put together in 85 or earlier. That is nearly 30 years ago.

However made in USA does have some value so if they were available for a similar price they would be snapped up just like the OBX version.
