Not a GTS, it's the 2057th 1990 Euro S4 Automatic. Did it get a GTS fender flare transplant at some point?

Got a pic of the option sticker from the rear deck, over the gas tank?

Most excellent Rob  ... I must change my lists to reflect the correct description. 'Type designation on rear end' was way too mundane.

will this help? WPOZZZ 928 1 59427

Nope, that's only 15 numbers, and no letters. Sometimes one can narrow down an incorrect/incomplete VIN using the last 5 and the YOM letter, but not in this case.

Shoot a picture of your A-pillar VIN tag and post it. Or e-mail to roberte01@gmail if you can't post here.

Here are the 85-95 VIN digit decoders. Note that VINs contain no letter O's, only number zeroes. Of course that didn't stop the guy who typeset the '85-89 Tech specs book from getting that wrong, but they fixed it in '90:

Could this be Greg Nettles' car? Is this car a 5 speed?

Rob Edwards 01-15-2014 12:26 PM

Dan, was wondering the same thing myself, but wasn't Greg's car an '87? Or was "Blown 87" a C4 Corvette? Can't remember now.

Interesting that for 85-89, Japanese cars had their own serial numbers, but not in '90.

I have a '90 from Japan: WP0ZZZ92ZLS840164 - so #164 in the ROW series. It does have the option code C08 for Japan. In comparing it to earlier Japanese cars it does not have the fender add-ons, steering wheel horn-sticker, etc. so it looks like there were fewer differences required.

The wikipedia page on VIN tech is quite the history lesson, lots of different standards over time and place.

Rob, about my GTS, i will get back with you ones i am back in germany. I only have a picture right now of the sticker in the trunk but it is really hard to read! I would be happy to post it here but don't know how ;(
I could send it via email.

Thank you again,
Rich

Rob Edwards 01-17-2014 10:30 PM

No problem, shoot me an e-mail at the gmail address a couple of posts above with any pics you may have, I'll try to decipher and post. Now that I know it's a '92 Euro GTS, there's only so many VINs it could be.

OTR18WHEELER 01-17-2014 11:26 PM

I have no options?
do I have a "off the shelf" model?
I know I have LSD, so was LSD standard for a A/T?
