Don't be so modest
This was fun to build this database and it has helped us a lot.

But remember that ANY Porsche Center can provide you more information, if you are the owner of the car, as illustrated here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...okup-help.html

An advantage of our database, is that we can make some statistics, like the number of cars with a given equipment.

On some years there are. For example different throttle body on some S4 where one vacuum line connection is located at different position on C03 cars.

Yes, there's that diagram in the '87 Service info tech showing the C02/CO3 difference.

And there are a million different vacuum diagram stickers specific for C02 vs. C03 markets, but there's no difference in the vacuum diagrams, for whatever little that's worth.

Default '87 S4 VIN & Color Name

Rob, here's the vin for the '87 I bought yesterday: WP0JB0923HS861515. I spoke w/Precision Motorwerks (Sooooo knowledgeable & nice!!) and they told me you were the expert to ask what the leather color name is. I know it's generically some shade of brown, but I can't seem to track down the name..definitively. Mahogany? or Cork? or...? Any insights you may have are much appreciated. Thank you for all your efforts Rob.

Well, it's not the 'correct' engine for that VIN number, but it's a better engine than the correct engine.

M28.11 8200610 is is a 300 hp 4.7 liter motor from a 1980 Euro S. Well, at least the short block is- you should verify that the intake and cams are Euro-spec.

RE: the rest of that car, here are the options:

WP0JA0925CS820444

1982
C02 - 49 state US market
M28.15 - 4.5 liter 231 hp engine serial # range 81 C 0001 >5000
G28.05 - transmission serial # range 11C 0001>9999

I126 - Blaupunkt Bamberg QTS Cassette radio 7 639 545 110 (digital) with ARI (Autofahrer-Rundfunk-Informationssystem)
M418 - rubstrips
M438 - 6-way Comfort seat right, electrically adjustable, 78-84
I455 - Wheel locks
I471 - Integrated rear spoiler (Competition Group option or Sport group 1 )
M484 - Version for USA
M494 - Additional Amp (4x15W, 1983+), Blaupunkt BQA-80
M650 - Sunroof
