Sharks On Ice..... Kananaskis, Canada Summer 2014

Is there anyone else leaving from the south east? I'm coming from Georgia.... I may try to meet up with the Texas crew somewhere in Wyoming or Montana. Could someone from the Texas group send me a proposed trip route with schedule so I could try to link up with the caravan along my route?

The Texas crew is planning to take the scenic route up to Canada (see map link) but heading straight back on the shortest route. Your more than welcome to join us for either or both legs.

Bilal, you big turkey, the scenic route does not include a drive to Conn., besides I thought you were flying. Our scenic rout is to include as much rocky mountains as reasonably possible.
esrajones, PM me your cell number and we will contact you before we get to Montana. Are you traveling alone? Any chance you could join us in Texas? Strength in numbers in case of any breakdowns etc. . .

folks, just finalising the tech events for Sat; bring your note pads to learn further brain busting info on programming the LH and EZK computers (Jim C) then switch over to rebuilding our steering racks (Colin......the Lizard).
Also finalising the runs for Sat and Sun which shall include lunch stops and photo opps...........for both runs you'll need lots of gas, tyres and skill

Hi Gents, a good point made about gasoline.
It's been 5 years since I drove the Highwood, and if I recall, refueling locations were limited to Longview, Kananaskis Gate, Kananaskis Village and somewhere up at Highway 1, maybe Canmore. Premium grade used to be hard to find in there...has the situation changed to our advantage?

Kind of strange, when you consider that Alberta exports about 2 million barrels a day of crude oil south across the line.....
No matter though, wherever we need to go to gas up, the scenery will be fabulous, and the people friendly.
The Highwood and K-country is a great venue, and your dashcams will snap some very memorable vistas.

hi Tim............wrt to gas we have the station 18km South of the hotel then a little further out Longview in one direction or Canmore the other. I drove the Highwood Pass today; had to dodge a few big horn sheep but other than that the hwy is wide +160 open.....have to lie low now

Great news, Malcolm, take good care to steer through those herds of Bighorn sheep!
I checked with the Fortress Junction service station (closest 18km) and they sell premium gas.
The K-country Gov. Tourism Agency advised me that the Highwood House station at Hwy40/Hwy541 is closed due to 2013 flood.
So - Premium grade (91) is normally available at every station we have near the K-country Lodge.
