Early engine mount question (solid rubber type)
Today I replaced my oil pan gasket and when I had the cross member down, I inspected my mounts and they looked fine. But, the top metal part was loose from the rubber block....its not supposed to do that right?
The metal parts are supposed to be bonded to the rubber correct?
thanks

Time for some new ones. This means that the rubber and the mounting part have parted ways and are looking for new homes.

Yes you can - get a set of used brackets and bolts from Mark. It may be easier to also buy a later 83+ cross member.

I've stuck with the old-style setup even though it is more expensive. They are more durable than hydraulic mounts and I didn't need to swap the crossmember.
Some people have used RTV to glue the plate back down.
