Default Early 928 colors (MY78-79) - a collection of amazing classic Porsche colors

I put together a collection of early Porsche colors and have on my 928 Classics Facebook page (anyone can view, it's public)

Take a look: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...15541635132310

In researching this, I was just amazed at what Porsche offered in the late 70's!
Most notable to me was the breadth of solid (non-metallic) colors, especially in 1978.

I'm still looking for Albert Blue, Apple Green (Daphne Green) and Lilac (Flieder).
If you have any 928 pics in these colors, please send them my way. Thanks!

Hard for me to pick a fav, but I'm leaning toward Olive Green.

Easy for me to pic my least fav, Cockney Brown (Bitter Chocolate). No offense Jim Bailey with your very brown 928.

It does not appear to match any of the standard or optional colors.http://www.landsharkoz.com/colourstart.htm Porsche used to do some one off custom colors and this might be one of them ? T

That's originally what I thought, but IIRC was a few shades lighter than the Tobacco Mettalic. T

What are you comparing to? Factor in age of paint and photo color differences.

A brown 928 is for intelligent, thoughtful and environmentally-conscious Porsche owners.

Awe man, Roger.... I don't have avatars turned on.

Actually, could you email me a pic of your Cockney Brown 928 so I'll have a better reference pic? Thanks!

This color collection is very cool! Thanks for doing that! For me that "Kermit" green is the ultimate early cars color. Just because it's so "out there" and so dated to that time.

Maybe you should have an interior pics page also if you have time to put it together. I love that camel/pasha again because it's so wild and so 70's. Do you know did any of these very early cars have leather dashes or was that only avail. later? There must be quite a few different color combos for interiors. Just the camel/pasha itself I've seen with different carpet colors and I think maybe different colors of the Pasha inserts (can't remember but it seems like I've seen brown and white inserts)?

There are tons of sites out there that try to tie car colors to psychology. But for 928's it's not like we can order any color we want, you have to get the car you like overall (condition etc.) in a color you like. Anyway here are a couple links, I wonder what the kermit green color indicates about personality (wild child?) : )

Hi Jim, Great initiative. I also like those early 928 colours in the OB style with no rub strips. 928 purity! Here's a link from the LandsharkOz site that may also be useful for you,

Cheers
