Sharon and I rolled into the garage about 30 minutes ago after spending a quiet night in Marble Falls last night recovering from all the fun (and the Smiths sing-along). Only my second 3rd Coast but once again one of the best Porsche events ever. Thanks to the entire 928sRUs crew and the 928 Owners Club for putting together the event. It sure was great seeing old friends and making new ones.
This coming weekend is PCA-Palooza in Eureka Springs, AR. Not quite the caliber of 3rd Coast, but a great core group of CAR people (not 911-only folks). If you haven't been and are a PCA member you should make plans to attend. The fall colors are peaking right now and the Ozark mountain roads make for spectacular 928 driving.
See everyone next year (if not sooner.)

Tony: I was one of the two cars there with a wrap (mine's the guards red one parked next to James' green one). Most of the attendees could not tell the car was wrapped unless I told them. It's not the same as a modern two stage paint job, but it cost me less than 50% of what full respray was quoted. I think it's a viable alternative.

Well everyone not named Barney Fife.
Mark and I are supposed to hook up for lunch.
There was no call for passing a hat around. My mistake, mea culpa.
Guess I'll have a good start on funds for buying all that yummy beer you guys
are raving about next year when I make my return.
Note to self -- when you don't have ABS and the fronts lock up -- you ain't turning. Just glad I didn't collect a pile behind me.
I'm also glad that it was during pedestrian speeds and
nothing serious came of it. I'll probably skip the fun run -- I get plenty
of track time in better prepped cars :-)
Get my estimate later this week. On the surface it's just cosmetics.
I will be on the look out for some Euro fog lamps -- but the rest I'm hoping
won't be too hard to find. Might be begging Mark to install his nifty race car brake setup :-) Those stock brakes, even with new calipers, lacked a little
bite until it was too late.
It was good to meet so many folks from the list and the hospitality was incredible.
The 928 and my pride will eventually be healed… I look forward to next years 'Fest.
Mike
P.S.
For those with Antique plates -- you are free to run with only one plate (since that is all they give you). However, you cannot display anything resembling a tag up front -- which includes my original European plate.
Also if you have an old registration sticker on the windshield -- they can ticket you for that as well. Barney was going to throw me jail for that and more -- fortunately the DPS officer was a little more level headed.

Well that was another wonderful event. Hats off to Roger, Chuck, Laura, Mike, Zane, Mercedes, Jeff, James Morrison and whomever else I missed. Thanks to Don Carter for the cool video. Besides being the now current holder of the "Favorite Non 928" also snarred the much coveted "Koolest Mods" award and a can of Spotted Dick pudding. It just doesn't get any better than this (unless of course you go by the name of Jarrod Wise !) T

We pulled into the garage about 30 minutes ago, after making a 4032 mile round trip. I had my foot in the shark's *** most of the way.
FWIW, Ed's, Guardian water pump has performed flawlessly! I'm really glad I replaced my old one with his modified pump.
Many thanks to all for another great time at 3rd coast. As always it was wild. Good to see old friends again, and meet new ones!
See y'all at Spring Fling.

Just got back to Indy. Thanks to the entire Texas crew for pitching in to make this one of the best events of the 928 calendar year. Special thanks as always, goes to Roger, Zane, Laura and Mike for doing most of the work to make this event great. Its always great to see everyone from that side of the world. Once a year may not be enough, so think I will have to try and make Spring Fling... but I may be tempted to fly.
It will be a memorable year. Despite several mechanical issues, the car made it back home with little issue. Thanks to all those who lended a hand during the weekend - Patrick for the ride, Jeff for getting parts on order so quickly, Mark Anderson for getting them to the hotel next day, Bilal for helping with the pulley install, Mike Hays for running all over Marble Falls in search of O-rings, Simon for surgical application of super glue, Mike Hendrick for keeping a constant supply of beer near the operating table, Curry for inexplicably always being in the parking lot whenever I have mechanical difficulty... and plenty of others who deserve credit, but forgetting after the long drive back. It was amazing to see how many people stopped on the way down to provide support, company, search for the lost crank bolt... etc while waiting for the flatbed. Thanks again everyone.
I had a great weekend as always, and looking forward to the next one. Hope to see everyone sooner though.
Thanks!
Hans

I smell a fix!
I have diligently ignored the exterior cosmetics of my car for over three years. I unashamedly drive her to events with the same rust she has had since the day I bought her. My dash is so bad that not even a dash carpet can hide the horror that lies beneath.
My son and I high five at every start. I plan trips to avoid stop signs and begin to hyper ventilate at stop lights lasting longer than a minute. Tow trucks make u-turns to follow me and a guy at a funeral home flashed a "see you soon" sign when I drove by Friday on the trip up.
I suppose I will keep trying despite the fact that I emasculate myself a bit more at each event. See you all next year
