Armrest reinforcement with Gorilla glue and fiberglas cloth
A couple of my mounting tabs broke. In the past I glued thin plastic as a support with decent results.
Fiberglas resin sometimes fails to adhere so I wanted to try some alternatives.
Today I tried something new.
I used fiberglass cloth with Gorilla Glue on one hole to hold and reinforce the broken tab. On the other tab I used a 2 part epoxy.
Both worked, but the Gorilla glue worked better because the glue let me set the cloth in place making it easy to apply the additional glue. It also provided a thinner repair. I love Gorilla glue - it loves Porsche plastic. I have used it everywhere on my cars with excellent results, so it does not surprise me it turned out so nice.
Pictures say it all. First 2 are the Gorilla glue. Third one is the two epoxy.
Epoxy worked, but was thicker and more difficult to get it to conform to the surfaces.
Even if you tabs have not failed yet this looks like a good preventative measure.

Nice job (well mainly the glue ones...!).
However the available metal reinforcement brackets allow you to ignore those broken old plastic tabs and they also directly support the door handle and remove all stresses from the panel - so I like that.
Of course its all hidden when back together.
I think Porsche should have known that plastic probably wasn't sufficient for the mounting (though previous over torquing of these clearly hastens their demise...).
I think extra large fender washers with big rubber washers underneath is still a good insurance here - even after this nice fix.
