going to look at an '87 S4 ...... just like the one i sold 11 years ago!

wish me luck.

also, real quick - where is the oil pressure sender? owner says it maxes out at all times. did some searching, and unless he has the wires mixed up, it may need replaced?

i have a lot of reading to do again .....

Open circuit is max PSI. Could just be a broken or disconnected wire.

Good Luck.

Good luck.

The sender is just in front of the oil filter. Can't miss it as it is gold (unless dirty) with two wires hanging off it.

thanks for the replies. i got tired of my reliable, trouble-free Japanese vehicles, and wanted thrills and adventure, so i got the car.

now to prioritize the to-do list.

first order of business is the transmission flare that happened when i was almost home. grrrrr!!!!

Maybe it's just the fluid level...but were it me I'd probably change the filter fluid if there isn't documentation of what is in there...and then the K2 spring cause its right there and associated with a 2-3 flare...and in 10-9-8...folks will start harping on need to change out the fuel/vac lines..away you go!! Welcome back! And where are you, anyway?

thanks, i believe the P.O. changed trans fluid and filter not that long ago.

i will be researching (and probably asking a lot of questions about) the K2 spring. i found an old thread, but some of the pics were missing.

its amazing how much you forget after that much time away from a 928 - i was fumbling around and couldn't find the hood latch release when i went to look at it.

i'm in Pittsburgh, BTW.

Know what you mean, my hiatus was from 32V to 16V CIS and now back, and I'm still relearning a bunch. Thought it might be a euro car/setting for a second, reason I asked.

Hope I was right that it's K2 and not K1..and there is also an updated B2 servo~ I don't think thae latter is a flare suspect though.

Your friendly 928 vendors can assist.....

Regards

Ditto what Rick said. Send a PM with your email address and we'll loop you in. We just had a good tech session at Rick's house, and have more coming up.
