this looks like a car that you would want to buy,
the price seems about right for the condition,
the engine looks very clean as do the interior and exterior a great starting point for a great car.
Figure you will need TB/ WP MMs and shocks , maybe some AC recharge and fuel lines, Good luck

Well, it looks shiny. I would recommend a 928 mech PPI before you buy, and it's a dealer...offer a lot less. Try calling Randy Kara: 617 624-1322.
He's a 928 guy in Tx.

RAC Performance is pretty reputable. They were an authorized RUF shop before they became RAC. I've been there before and they have had 928's in their shop being worked on so, I would hope that their 100 point check would be worth something. Maybe they can give you some details like crank end play measurement, TB/WP, top end refresh, etc..
They are not far from me, so if you need me to go by there for you, let me know. The Randy Kara suggestion from Geschwindig is a good one. There are a few others here if you cannot get Randy.

RAC has a very good reputation and they are fantastic to deal with. If they say a car is good then it really is. They are not just some dealer as they take care of the finest and most expensive cars in the DFW metroplex.

Looks pretty good to me. I would note the driver's seat bolster wear - it can easily be re-colored. I purchased a pair of sport seats off Craigslist with a driver's bolster in similar condition. After re-coloring with a kit, it looks like new.

Jarrod, I can believe it looks like new because everything else on your car looks like new. It was a treat seeing it at the Witchita OCIC.

Looks like a really nice car and perhaps a little overpriced at $12,500 for an Auto. In general 5 speeds sell for 3 to 6K more than autos. That said, here is a $9K 5 speed Euro that appears to be garage kept for $9K before negotiations for a price point.

Sure it's a matter of tastes and preferences and if the Weissgold Metalic auto strikes your fancy, it sure looks like a good one to snag. Would be even better if it came with documented WP/TB service.
The ad states "This 1986 928 S has progressed 100% through the PPI process with every recommended service and/or reconditioning line item completed." Sounds like typical sales BS, but if verified could make this a steal of a deal. Have to wonder if they did true high value maintenance, they would list them specifically instead of such a generic statement.
If one nit picks the pics, you will notice slightly elevated bolster wear, it's missing a $3 seat ****, and slight tear in the rear seat area. All of these would be fairly easy fixes and items the "Shine & Show" lots and salesmen typically mask over.
As other have stated, this one needs to be visited in person to see if the exterior is a sweet as it appears in pictures. To me the exterior and interior are the most important items to check when looking for a pristine example, knowing the mechanicals are easier and cheaper to bring up to snuff.
Looking at the level of other vehicles RAC has to offer, it appears they sell good examples and probably have done the leg work on this one. They are a business with a reputation and need to make a buck (or more) to keep the light on... so I retract my opening remark about being over priced.

when cars like these pop up you need to be preapproved to make it happen,
the dilly dallyiers will only get to watch the auction say it has ended.
