Default For Sale: 1986.5 928 Race/HPDE car and trailer

1986.5 928 Race/HPDE car and 18 foot Trailer

*** $21,500 for car, trailer and extras as a complete package***

After several years of enjoying this awesome example of a race prepared 928, it is time for me to pass the torch.

This dedicated race/track 928 is fairly well known in the 928 community and is commonly called the “Coca-Cola” car due to its livery. The car was highlighted in Excellence magazine back in February 2005 when it was owned by Constantine, Proprietor of Black Sea Research. This 928 is an absolute Rock-Star anytime It shows up at the track or a PCA event. The look, sound, stance and rarity of the car really makes it popular in the paddock. Everything is very fresh on the car and it is ready to go racing or HPDE.

The car is not registered at this time and can’t be driven on the street. I am offering the buyer an orientation of the car at NOLA Motorsport Park, where the buyer will be able to drive the car on the track for a real life test/track drive.

I will provide more specifics about the car below.

The included trailer has towed my 928s (as well as a few friends 928s) all over the country. I have done road trips from Florida to Kentucky, Georgia to Texas, Alabama to Indiana, Georgia to Oklahoma etc, etc. It tows excellent and is a perfect rig for a 928. It is very easy to load and unload the car by yourself. Also, the deck height and fenders allow you to easily open the doors directly over the fenders once the car is loaded. It has been fully refurbished and serviced over the past 12 months. New paint job in gloss black, new pressure treated wood deck, new Good-Year trailer tires along with new galvanized hardware has been done in the past year. Both the car and trailer are ready to go anywhere in the US. Anything with a tow capacity of 7000lbs should have no problem towing car and trailer.

The car is offered as a package with the trailer and is not for sale unless the car buyer does not want it. I will only then offer the trailer for sale.
I have a Georgia title in my name for the car. Trailer will include a Bill of Sale as Georgia does not issue titles for trailers and I have not registered it in Louisiana.

Below are some details about the build of the car. If there is something I have not covered, just ask. I’ve tried to provide a lot of information but if you want something specific, just ask. I will be updating the thread with more pictures over the next couple of days. Shots from under the car etc..

*Full engine rebuild in October 2010 and currently has approx 50 hours with no race time. Crankshaft was cross drilled by Taylor machine in 2007 and was Magnafluxed before reassembly. Rotating assembly was balanced and all internals are stock. Porsche bearings and rings were used throughout. The heads were fully gone through to include the guides. Engine mounts were replaced also. Nology Plug Wires. The engine is very strong and sounds great. A 3.5 Quart Accusump system with electronic valve and Canton filter is included as well as a crank scraper and windage tray set up. Cooling is done through an Aluminum radiator with electric fan, no mechanical fan.

•Exhaust system consists of MSDS headers into a single 3.5 exhaust that is all stainless. I have an “Open Exhaust” pipe as well as a “Magnaflow Muffler” set up. I prefer the Magnaflow set up as it doesn’t sound (dare I say) NASCAR. The open exhaust is really loud at WOT and has gotten me black flagged at Road Atlanta. Here it is with the Magnaflow
https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.ph...type=3&theater

•This car was an original automatic that was converted to a 5 Speed by Constantine. The conversion is extremely clean and everything works perfect. The ball coupler was replaced within the last year and it is equipped with a 928 Specialists short shifter. The clutch was checked last year and is in excellent condition and the fluid was changed at that time also.
•Wheels are 17 inch Fikse FM5 with NITTO NT01 tires in 275/40/17 Front and 315/40/17. Tires are 1 year old and have no hard heat cycles on them. Also included is a set of 17 inch wheels with no tires. I used this set for tires to run in the wet.
•Brakes are S4 calipers with 90% new Pagid Yellows all around. Front rotors are new Zimmerman’s that have only been bedded in with the pads. Brake bias changed to a 33 bar unit
•The suspension includes Dual adjustable JRZ Coilovers. Ott Drop Links connected to (I think DEVEK) Roll bars, urethane bushings, and reinforced mounting points. This set up, combined with the correct tires, offers tons of grip and stability. The steering is well balanced and the feedback from both ends of the car is concise and predictable. The car really hooks up well! Weight is currently right at 3000lbs and there is some easy weight that could be removed such as; headlight system, glass, electric window motors just to name a few. The car has a corner balance sheet in its current configuration that will be included in the binder that comes with the car.
•The interior is clean and nicely painted and polished with a fully certified welded in cage. The inner roof panel was removed for more helmet space and the metal sunroof panel has been replaced with a Carbon Fiber panel. Driver seat is a Sparco Evo 3 and the passenger seat is an EVO 2. Team-Tech harnesses on both sides (your driving coach will love this!). There is also a Halon fire system for the interior.
•Extras that are included; 2 NITTO NT01 315/40/17 with 60% left, Spare 5.0 Crankshaft, Spare set of heads with S3 cams, Full intake system, cam covers, wiring harness, air box and engine covers. Portable Nitrogen tank for tires/shocks, 17 inch wheels, Car Cover, New I-J Crank Scraper and tray.
….There is likely more that I forget that I even have that will be included with the package.

***Car and trailer are offered “AS IS” with no warranty written or implied***

There is no possible way that I could cover everything, so please feel free to ask questions.

If you prefer, you can PM me or email me at abby.short@live.com or call me at 504-287-6626. Please leave a message if you do not reach me. Thank you!

Hi Abby,

Car looks as beautiful as ever, glad you had some fun with it during your ownership. I sure did!

This was the "test mule" for our the Super Clamp before it was turned into a 5-speed so it could finally be a "proper" race car.

As Abby said, this 928 gets lots of love and is very admired by even the most staunch 911 owner.

This same 928 was also raced at the 2007 PCA 48 Hours of Sebring races by Mark Anderson who really enjoyed the car.

If anyone has ever considered tracking a 928 at either a DE or race event, this would be the one. Just turn the key and go have some fun!

There is no way you could replicate this car for the asking price.

Good luck with the sale!

Awesome Shark, well loved and cared for by Constantine & Abby. When I get a chance, I'll look on my server & see if I can round up a few more pics from when it was at Sebring & Daytona. It also was in a pic in Panorama when it was there being raced by MA in 2007. Many many have wished they could swing owning this great Coke Shark! Even were some here in Fla. that wanted to jointly purchase it & keep it in the Sunshine State.

A bump and also should mention that I will be running this Beast at NOLA Motorsports Park tomorrow if you can make it for a test drive.

It is VERY painful to let go of something you have loved, however the Coca-cola 928 has found a new home on the East Coast.

Thank you for the kind words over the years and support. It was a privilege to have custodianship of this super cool 928 and it has gone to a great new home. I suspect the new owner will check in at some point, and that this community will be of great help.

My new chapter is finishing building a Cayman RS and doing some spec-class racing.

Best regards,
