I am the proud new owner of a 1987 928s4!!!!! I am a newbie and I am trying to learn as much as I can!!!! First, How do I open the storage compartment in the back seat if it is locked and the prior owner did not have the keys?

Strange, its the same key as the glove box. I assume you don't have that either.
You can go to your local friendly Porsche dealer with the VIN number and master key and they will cut you one of about $70 !
OR
Use a 1/8 or 3/16 inch drill bit and drill a hole right through the center of the lock, it will break and open. Then find a new lock piece, or get a locksmith to unlock it for you.

Just go to a locksmith, probably take him 5 seconds to pick it. Or drive it to my house and I'll do it for you.
