$163.99 & $171.99 respectively.

Are those good prices?

Last battery I bought was $108 or so.

To give a little more detail...

If you set up an account with Advance, you will often get discounts, sometimes 15% off, sometimes 20% off, on on-line orders. You order and pay on-line, getting the discount, pick the order up at your Advance store an hour later with no shipping cost. Sometimes, you will get a $25 coupon good on your next $50 order in addition to the discount.

Works a treat.

Sam's Club has the AGM-H8 for $140 with 2 year free replacement. At least six months ago when I bought mine.

Just FYI... this discount (or similar) has been going on all year... DOWXX where XX = week number. Maybe not every week, but at least every other.

AA pretty much always have some sort of 40% off promotion all the time. I find the codes using slickdeals.net and search for Advance Autos

Examples:

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/9855...-online-orders

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/9814...-online-orders

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/9685...-50-40-off-100

So what are the advantages of AGM? Are they lighter, stronger, last longer,??? I have two in my VW and all I know is they aren't cheap to replace (well over $200) and requires a different battery charger.

I'm thinking that an overheated, tired, low-voltage and low-current 928 alternator with no cooling hose should be close to the perfect charging option for an AGM battery in my car.
