Has anyone tried dropping the oil level from 8 qt to say 7 or even 6?
At 8 qts the top of the oil level is right at the top of the oil pan front extention. Dropping the oil level would allow better crankcase breathing from the top of the oil pan.

I've thought about a gallon or so sized accusump type external tank that would drop the sump level, but maybe hold an extra quart or so at the same time. I don't think I would drop the overall oil volume without a lot of other actions to prevent loading in one area starving another.
