Thanks for all the kind comments guys... Let me see if I can answer some of your ????

How long does a wrap last? These guys tell me at least 7 years. You treat it just like paint as in you wash and wax it just like regular paint. You don't buff it or anything like that of course.

Matte vs. Gloss... Well wraps come in all colors and textures and finishes. You can get anything you want just about. In this case the only green pearl was a matte finish. That was NOT going to work for me or this project so the only choice was to keep waiting or to laminate the gloss clear on top of the matte green, so that is what they did.

Cost? Well, in this case we are talking 2X the material and while this was MUCH easier to work with than the metal look finishes or the chrome it was still harder than a single layer wrap. So to repeat this job to this level of finish would be about $4800. A standard single layer wrap (gloss or matte that is easy to work with) would be sub $3000 and perhaps below $2500 depending on how you want to finish it out.

Repainting costs? For this project I picked a black car because it was going to be a color change and I didn't want funky colored engine bay or wheel wells and while you can wrap most of the door jamb you can't get it all so starting with black was a must. If I had asked a body shop to do what these guys did it would have EASILY been $12k! I asked one of the better shops in town about a complete color change (about 5+ years ago when I first started thinking about this project) and they assured me they WOULD NOT DO IT EVER!! They said, even if they charged me $30,000 they would lose money on the job! OH MY!!! So, a wrap was an easy choice. If you are just staying the same color but want a full respray you are talking $5k-$6k and that would be a friendly rate!

Wheels? Panamera 18" base wheels! LOVE THEM! These are honestly some of the best looking wheels from Porsche that we can put on our cars that have a good offset. I like the Carrera Lightweight wheels best still, but the front offset is not favorable. The CIII's are nice too and have a slightly better offset, but these in 8" and 9" I think are optimal. I run 245's up front and 255's out back. LOVE the balance of this car!!!

Martin, THE LAST did go somewhere. No one is really sure as it has NEVER popped up in any country as registered. Legend has it that it went to a French collector... No good pics to show the color and while I think it is more yellow than my wrap a few pics of THE LAST next to a few of the pics I posted look pretty damn close!

Oh, this stuff peels up with high heat when you are ready to take it off leaving pristine (or crappy, depending on what you started with! LOL!) paint behind. In my case the paint under the wrap is pretty damn spectacular (thanks to hitting a deer!) so I have beautiful black paint under my green!!

So here is a shot of the last from a magazine article about the car and a shot of my car. Mine is clearly not yellow enough, but in some shots it is getting pretty close. Note how the St. Augustine grass in the pic with THE LAST is only slightly more green than the car... It makes me think we are not picking up NEARLY the amount of green that the car actually is. That said, my car is FAR MORE green than in some of the shots and how it looks varies widely based on the light you see it under!

With that cost and longevity this is a far better option than a cheap paint job. And I can tell you that even repainting to the same color is a lot more than that, if you want it done right.

There was a thread recently about a spray on clear paint protector. I wonder how long it will be before that comes in colors?

Very strange info coming from some circles about paint jobs, but this is a great example of an awesome option, great stuff, and thanks for sharing.

Incredible work!

I have still not found wp0aa292_aa820137 which "seems" to be in France now but wp0aa292_aa820135 is on its way to Nouvelle Calédonie from France at the moment.

James, looks great, really nice how they wrapped right into the door jams and even the gas flap back side!

Amazing, beautiful job!

How does wrap hold up to flying stones and so on that nick your paint, is it basically the same? I would bet re-wrapping the front bumper would actually be easier that re-spraying and if a person kept some of the original material should exactly the match the rest?

Love the color, and the work effort to get it that "Green" . Keep us guessing as to where 95 GTS #77 is, and if it is still alive.

It looks great, Nice detailed work.

Hey 928cs, I'll be in Le Mans Fr June 21-23 visiting my cousin and I have 136. I'm in the middle of a TB/WP and a very thorough cleaning.
