Default Supercharged GTS for sale in Quebec.

Came across this on Kijiji
(no affiliation):
http://qc.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et-vehic...AdIdZ476180064

Here is the description translated... the original text is full of Franglais (mixed French and English (anglais) that we see a lot of here in Quebec) errors - spelling and otherwise, so don't blame me if it is not understandable

"545 hp , 320 km (?), aluminum body (?), shifter kit, ventilated 4 piston double circuit racing brakes. Simmons raging 3 pieces (?) Super charger 5lbs special crankcase breather, cold air induction, new bilstien racing adjustable suspension. Free flow exhaust variable gas pressure. Timing belt, bearing guide, water pump, firing system, all new and improved. $30.000 invested over a year. With fine tuning will be close to 600hp and can be used on the street as a daily driver. Radio CD 10 speakers and sub ampli. Black on black, world's best road holding, 50-50 weight distribution. Too much to be able to write it all, write for more info, serious enquiries only. The only one in Canada. Good investment, rare and collectable will improve in value more than any form of savings"

I would not worry about the rods if it was a mild kit, tuned well and all sensors up to date. For a big HP car with the early rods I would worry.

I wouldnt worry about the rods either.
But I cannot see 545rwhp from 5 PSI. MAYBE crank, but still unlikely.

R1 vs R2 Rods: I was discussing upgrading cams on my GTS with one of the gurus here, who has done it, and his take was GT cams are OK, but anything else and you are putting money on the table. I don't know what you consider big HP, but have you checked on availability of GTS engine replacements? I did see one listed at $25K from Porsche, cuz it is the only one left, so for me that means zero. I guess this is truly a YMMV.

If it's an early GTS I'd really worry about the rods.

Porsche have all the parts a a available for a lot less - a complete GTS short block is $15,000 including Value Added Tax at 20%. For you in the US would mean around $12.3k all in.

1R rods are Ok - Dr Nick's Orange Car is running Elgin grind S3 cams, Devek Level 2 headers, soon it will be ITB-ed

What a deal. Just add shipping and about 20 hours labor.
