400 mile drive in the 86.5 :-)
Today I had some business meetings on the other side of the country, and I decided to take the 928.
In total I coverd approx 400 miles, and the car was simply great.
I really enjoyed the high cruising speeds which are possible in the car.
I also took a short bit of Autobahn in Germany and took it up to 232 km/h on the GPS (not enough road to go faster :-))
Compared to when I just got the car, and now (all maintenance done and Porkenized) it is way more powerfull. Before it would only slowly go faster above +/- 210 km/h (when it upshifts from 3rd to 4th).
Now I am sure it will easily do 250+ km/h.
Only thing I need to improve are the windshield wipers, above 140 km/h they dont wipe very good at all. Is there supposed to be a spoiler on the wiper arm of a 86.5 (mine has no spoiler)?
Anyhow, I had a great day!

Sounds like a blast!
IDK about the spoiler on the windshield wiper. my '81 euro has one.
A thorough application of Rain-X would probably help alot with visibility. My endurance car does not have wipers and have never needed them providing we rain-x before the race.

I use Enduroshield and find it very much better than RainX.
The effect is stronger and it lasts considerably longer.
I use it on cabin glass, mirrors, headlights and all other lights.
Terrific stuff.

But with the Autobahn you also need a different and more strict state inspection. The annual inspection in Texas was a joke. The focus in the US is on emissions, that's it.
In Germany they check all the brakes if the pull evenly, check for play in all parts of the suspension and steering, oil leaks, check the light adjustment, check the body for corrosion, and......

Better with buddies who know how to drive. And I would never go past 80 or so in the rain, on a drive to the Montreal GP in 86 I was in my brand new Mustang GT and it was pouring with new goodyear uni-directional tires I was hydro-plaining like crazy, not cool.

The 928 handles great, also with 100+ miles in the rain.
The roads here are also in good condition, so not really troublesome.
In The Netherlands we have a special kind of tarmac (called ZOAB= very open afphalt, so the rainwater drains away much faster)
I know that the aerotwin wipers work good, but I think they are not so pretty.
Does anyone know if I can get the original wiper arm spoiler new? And what the partno would be?
Just did a quick checkup of the car, and it looks all OK, no oil leaks, no strange sound, nothing. I'm happy :-)

The result of the study is that the safety of ZOAB is equivalent to that of DAB. In addition, the study did not discover a statistically significant difference between the risks associated with the DAB and ZOAB road sections during either rainy or dry conditions.
