If they dyno place has one, or if you can bring one, I would highly recommend placing a fan to blow between the airbox and plenum over the air temp sensor and MAF. (EG. S3 with blower pic)

It really helps make for more consistent dyno runs with LH2.2/EZ-F. Any time spent on the dyno will quickly raise airbox temps to the retard point.

USA/Canada uses (RON+MON)/2), AKA AKI (anti-knock index)

93 US/AKI = 98 EU/RON

Thanks Ken for the info on RON/AKI ratings. I'll update the website.

When on the dyno I was monitoring the Airtemp with the SharkTuner. It was in the 40's C. Good idea on the supplementary fan.

USA/Canada uses (RON+MON)/2), AKA AKI (anti-knock index)

89 US/AKI = 95 EU/RON
91 US/AKI = 95 EU/RON
93 US/AKI = 98 EU/RON

I have fitted a pair of the chips to a local 5 speed 86.5 16v. The first thing he noticed was that a slight hesitation at low rpm was gone. The second thing was more power :-)

I am ready to deliver, I just need to write up some installation notes.

After this mod, is the pigtail wire connection that reduces timing no longer an option? I've had to connect it one time when high-test gas wasn't available.

John,
I checked out your website and it sounds like only the ignition chip will work on the 84 Euro. Can you explain this a little more on this thread? What does it take so the LH chip can be used on the '84?

The software structure in the 16v Euro LH is unique to that ECU. There are also hardware differences. This is why we never made the Sharktuner work with MY84 LH. Just not cost effective.

All the real power gains are in the EZ-F chip. The modified LH adds some tweaks which are refinements, such as raising the fuel cut off somewhat.

Any reason why he cannot simply install the LH brain from an 85?

No reason at all - good point. In fact you can even use an LH2.2 from a 85/86
32v car, that is what I am actually running in my own Euro.
