Old NACA research reports are really cool
Looking at old NACA reports from back in the day, and it's really well done, unbiased research on some technologies that are prominent today in engine design.

The above is an article on exhaust valve cooling effects, they tested with sodium filled, water circulated, and oil circulated, really neat stuff.

This one is about methanol/water injection, it is the best research out there for that, it's fairly easy to understand if you know the basics of air/fuel induction. They even used many different water:fuel ratios which shows you at what point it stops being effective. So cool IMO.
