To get into Pomona before the 4 am Sunday general opening you need to have a car for sale or rent a vender stall and you can be there all day and night Saturday with cars coming in at all hours. Usually we used the old very brown 1980 as the excuse to be early. Many cars get sold BEFORE the Sunday opening some are put up for resale..... So getting there Saturday afternoon is a MUST ! Many people do not realize that.
Jeff and his father love the friendly competition we went drag racing like 15 years ago, I took my 2.8 RSR style 68 lightweight 911. There is a lot more interesting car footage but seems like the editors know little about cars and tend to focus on drama. There are eight episodes and a lot going on. I spent about a month in Lubbock came home a couple weeks ago just "helping" behind the scenes as there was so much going on and having a full film crew around is very interesting
That said the cars are all real buys and sells with Jeff and Meggan putting up the cash so the 40k you saw him stuffing in his pockets was real and the walking stick I carry has a purpose. The deals at Pomona all go down in CASH. I have seen one group of Australians shopping with a briefcase full of cash at several Swap meets ! A few years ago Jeff bought five cars before Sunday morning however the "black" interior on one turned up dark green in the morning daylight He still made money.

If I remember right they got shipping on one of the cars back to Texas for $500. I know they likely ship a lot with the carrier, but still an enclosed transport for $500 sounds dirt cheap. Jim, I hope we never have to see you use that stick.

It was a full load of cars, more happens than can be shown on any episode. So it gets much cheaper to rent a whole truck. Later episode they take 7 cars to a Leake Auction.....

Haven't been here in quite some time, so to say I've been out of the loop is an understatement.

So I DVR'ed this new show and they say they're heading to Pomona, CA from TX. Got to thinking bout the days I used to go when I lived in Cali while the show rambled on. Then the girl says her dad's gonna meet them there with truck and trailer and get them in early. Next thing I hear is something to the effect of "My dad looks like Santa Claus..". Huh???...Before I could actually finish my thought, they cut to this guy with a long white beard...I nearly jumped off the couch and said "JIM!" Had no clue this was going to happen and they didn't even mention your name yet and I just knew, so I had to stop in and say Hello. lol

Very cool Jim...after that, I put it all together and remembered you telling me years ago about your daughter and son-in-law back when you were holding that Pantera for them. You''re still the "man" my friend and glad to see you're well. All my best!

Yea..I'm still alive.

Keith great to see you posting ! For another laugh go to Nathan For You on Comedy Central episode two there you will also find Santa
Car Chasers has 8 episodes and so much going on....the SEMA show , L A Roadster show, Long Beach swap meet, two Leake auctions, movie car buys , and a bunch of collector buys and sells along the way..... I do not appear in any more. So it can only get better

Some guy walks in off the street and forks out $50 K for 2 cars?

Was that real?

Good thing Jeff got to keep his goatee; otherwise he'd have to find something else to grab hold of during negotiations. .....

Car business is a funny one....Jeff many many years ago worked at a Chevy dealer...one day highschool girl came into the dealership and was looking at a Corvette...None of the other salespeople would talk to her. Jeff showed her the car. She came back with her father and brother. The dad paid cash for two new Corvettes one for each kid !!Dad also came back to see Jeff for other cars !! You just never know.
The guy on the show did buy both cars.....real money.

Good show James. I am enjoying it even though I'm not a real HotRod guy. Still like looking at them. Is the show doing well enough to have follow up seasons? Hope so.....maybe they can fit in some 928 related stuff at some point.

James...you must be proud.

Thanks guys , in the end ratings will determine what CNBC opts to do. They have done a lot of promotion and the film crew was first class, very professional. Much effort went into all the shows. There is upcoming Porsche content (three) ,another Ferrari, and a "Lambo"....
As far as premium fuel we all know it will never HURT the car .....just your pocketbook
Yes I am proud of them for actually making it happen ! Please do watch and check out their facebook site all that gets tracked.

My business is similiar but only with equipment selling. I know exactly what you are saying about judging people. We have had a lot of hispanics move into Nebr. and Iowa in the last decade and I know for a fact there are a lot equipment dealers that will not even call a hispanic sounding person back. And yes, Cash if very important when buying.

Thanks for the nice comments, I hope the show is fun for all of you. It is a good representation of their long time business buying and selling all kinds of cars, boats even an airplane plus speculating on toys, real kids toys.

I thought this was a Tuesday show. I saw it Monday. Or was it just April Fools and all in my imagination.

Hope they come out ok on the Bonnie that the shippers messed up.
