any inexpensive coil/plug wires out there?
Hmmm....wondering if anybody has found less expensive coil/spark plug wires options? $150 for wires? That seems outrageously high as does the $80 bosch coil. Won't a regular old 12v coil work? Any alternatives to plug wires?

What year is your car - useful to have that in the signature.
The coil for the earlier cars we sell for $63 not $80. You may be shopping with the wrong people so stick with the 928 suppliers.

You just got this really cool exotic limited production and very EXPENSIVE(when new) sports car. Why should the parts be cheap ???? One of the REASONS why you can buy an old one cheap is BECAUSE the parts are expensive and Porsche shop repair rates are $100 plus per hour.
Your early car runs the coil on less than 12 volts except when starting so it is somewhat "special"...

As I believe you have a Euro CIS car with S engine check the rotor......you need a special RPM cut off rotor or you have no revlimiter.....which makes it very easy to blowup the motor by overreving.....very easy !

Put your model/year in the posts. I bet a lot of people are like me and turn signatures OFF. How much boasting and political crap do I need?

Ya re-use the other ends. You used to be able to get just the wires and then re-use the ends. They screw on/off and rarely fail. I've gotten a few sets of used wires for ends and the new wires and then fabbed up a working set of "real" wires without paying fat money.

+1, We have some good 928 venders here and I know Roger looks in a lot of different places to get us good fair prices on qaulity parts.

Glen: exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
James: I was looking online and saw plug wires from $150-$1200. That just seems a bit like gouging to me. Then again I just paid $150 for a new "green wire".

What I usually do is just buy the wire only kits from 928 intl. You reuse the spark plug connectors and the kits run in the $100 range. The PO of my GTS took it the dealer and they replaced the whole harness one connector and wire at a time (you can buy them individually from Porsche). The parts alone were over $1200. You can buy the parts and the crimper to do it yourself but the problem is the crimper is expensive and some of the parts come in bags of 100 or so. So if you are just doing one harness it is expensive. Last I asked him Roger did not have the wire only kits (I think he said he had not been able to get them at a quality level he liked), but he was thinking about getting a crimper to do them so he might now.
