Default My rear wheelwell/fenderlip modification thread

Don't shoot me PLEASE. I've studied the 928 lines for about 8 months now and what I've learned (after playing with my cheesy paint program) is that raising the well a few inches up has a dramatic effect on the car WITHOUT adding flares and allows larger rims/tires too. Thoughts?????

Nope. I disagree. Leave the beauty alone.

Default THIS looks great to me.

The front tires on this car were taller (I believe) than the rears. See the before and after pics. Can you see what a huge difference the wells mod makes????

When I first started studying the shape of the 928 something always threw me off. From the front bumper to the the rear of the doors the car is stunning. But from the doors back there is a bit of awkward angle thing happening, at least in my eyes. So I had some free time and created a bunch of paintshop pics just to see what would happen. The more time I spent the more it seemed obvious how dramatic the change was. I don't mean to offend, just was a fun project and I thought I'd see what response I got.

Yep, adding a little rolling or flaring to the rear fenders makes a very nice and noticable change. The factory should have added those few inches to begin with. I almost think just a little flaring looks as good or maybe even better than the GTS. I think the GTS goes just a little bit to far to look perfect. Don't get wrong GTS owners, it does look very good though.

My idea is using the existing quarter shape and just moving it up a bit. No flares needed When making this mod the balance of the shape evens out. Just take a peek at the stock wheelwell tops and draw a line between them. This mod evens them and I think you could even lower the rear end a bit if so desired and yet still run bigger tires. Just sayin'.....

Denny....not sure what wheels those are. I think the owner of UPROAR could tell you. May be here on the forum.
