Yes the lip did get rolled flat. I do like the look of the fender coming up as it comes out. I think that is kind of what you are reffering to in your OP is'nt it?

Yes and no. My thinking was to duplicate what I did in paintshop for real. I'm gonna try it. I don't want to alter the contour only move the upper part of wheelwell up a few inches so my tires stop rubbing. I do like your mod though. Looks great!

Don't cut em, roll them: If you do not plan on painting the car anytime soon, heat up the lips of the fenders a bit with a blow dryer or heat gun to prevent cracking your existing paint.

How are you going to do that? Cut it, or fold it, or ???

I've seen that video. Looks slick but won't move the well lip up. My idea is to carefully cut the top 1/3rd of the wheelwell and move it up.

Can I suggest starting a new thread and run a poll with these suggested choices: 1) Cut & raise the fender lip. 2) Do not mess with the fenders. 3) Roll the fenders. This will give you a very good idea on how other RL's feel about it. This will also give you an idea of how the resale will be affected down the road .02 T

A rennlister of old called Malibu did something very similar to your photochop:

More info here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...rior-done.html

There was also a factory option for round rear arches.. for around 1989 only IIRC. Option code XC1.

A search here for XC1 should bring up more on the factory option.

I've actually seen those photos of the burnt orange car....that guy really did some unique stuff. The only thing is He didn't retain the flat horizontal shape of the lip. I've studied the rounded lips and they aren't to my liking. I want my project to have that same exact OB shape/contour. I just want to remove some of the sheet metal above the existing wells and move the whole shape upwards. Does that make sense? I've got a project car here that has a damaged quarter and I'm thinking it may the one to play with. If it doesn't work I can reskin that quarter.

That looks Great! Did you do this with a standard fender roller? I heard harbor freight sells them.

Thank you, I did the baseball bat method. Actually pvc pipe for me. I tried to get as much up over the tire as much as out and I think that is easier to do with the bat and tug method. I am considering getting the roller this summer and see if I can tweek just a little more. The OC has a free loaner program for the roller so you might want to check on that.

I think you won't achieve such a great result cutting the arches, I think you will just have a gaping space above the wheel like its missing something when you look at the front or rear three quarter views rather than just side on in profile and I don't think you will see this easily until after you have made the cuts! I'd role the arches and keep the classic 928 rear chape.
