DFW GTG Saturday, March 2nd - Lunch/Dinner POLL
In lieu of a breakfast for the March 2nd 928 DFW Breakfast Gathering – I am proposing the following poll to decide between 3 different options:
A. Lunch in Waco – I will arrange a lunch and we will hopefully meet up with the Austin/South Texas crowd. The 928 Group will drive through the Coolest prettiest winding roads of Cameron Park alongside the Brazos River and right past the Suspension Bridge. Lunch probably at The Elite on the Circle right off I-35 where they have the famous Dr. Pepper Ribs and a great wine list. Also, a Whiskey Distillery tour or wine tasting. B. Dinner at Winstar Casino (Thackerville, OK) – I will arrange dinner for us at one of the many restaurants at the Casino. Gambling before and after dinner. The Casino is 2nd largest in the World. Hotel in the Casino and many more nearby. C. Lunch in Hill Country. I will arrange a lunch. |
I say, "Why screw with our normal breakfast?" We had 34 people last breakfast GTG and 24 cars. Leave the normal breakfast alone.
If someone wants to have lunch in the Hill Country, go to the Austin lunch on the Second Saturday. If someone wants to have a lunch or dinner, that's great, but have it as an add-on. Don't screw with the something good that we have going here. |
Chuck and I were talking about this today and had a few people liking the idea of meeting at Fox & Hound in Lewisville around 2-3pm for a lunch/family get together where we can enjoy a drink or two and have other activities to do besides eat.

Laura great idea for a GTG in Waco and meeting up with the Austin group works well.
We get so many requests for new venues hard to keep everyone happy. |
Waco is meh. Traingulate. Boerne is a cool town. This way you include DFW/Austin/San Antonio, etc .02. T

Chuck would be happy if it was held in his driveway.

GrandAm race in Austin that weekend that ScottC and I are going to attend. You guys might want to consider making it a weekend thing. Tickets are cheap ($59.00 IIRC)
|
When the breakfast moved into the mid town Arlington, the attendance has been better most all the time. I'm with Curry on this meeting although I haven't driven a 928 to one in many years. I still like to get together in the morning and visit/tech chat which leaves the rest of the day, and Sunday for other stuff.
More planning, or a bigger plan for lunch or dinner is fine, but the Sat morning thing is working. I like the idea of a trip down south somewhere, meet up with the Austin/San Antone folks is fine. Just don't be Yoko and bust up the regular band. |
This is not a Permanent Change to the Breakfast.
It's a little adventure before the Texas weather turns up the heat. |
I wish it wasn't $1000 in fuel away from me by plane or 14 hours each way by car.
|
We are not changing anything - just the venue for one meeting - do not see that as a problem.
At the moment we have no permanent venue so if you have a suggestion please make it. The last meeting was great but breakfast service sucked and many asked for somewhere else. For those that want to drive there cars a meeting out of town is perfect. For those that do not like driving we can set up a separate meeting. Any suggestions for April 6th? |
Well, It's outta my hands. I just signed up for a trip to FL for that wknd, so you'all have fun. Maybe see ya in April.
|
As long as Sean brings all his tools to work on my car, I'll meet up anywhere ... ha ha!
Seriously, love the idea of seeing the Dallas brethren, btwn 'Fling', 3rd Coast and this, would be three times in one year! |
I like the idea of Waco, but I also think it could be on another Saturday. If we did the 1st Sat. to Waco, instead of the normal breakfast, how many would go?
