Torque spec for flex plate bolts?
Searched high and low could not find this value.

Yeah I printed that off yesterday. I've looked through it several times don't see a value for the flex plate.
|
Is it the value for M 8 ? 16 ft lbs seems low.
|
I find a value for driver plate to converter for 33 Ft lbs in my technical specifications handbook. But nothing for driver plate to flywheel.

WSM Page 39-48, 24-29 ft-lbs. Replace the lockwasher.
Sorry, someday I'll lose my right foot, or my right arm, and I'll update the spreadsheet to include all those automatic transmission torque values. Maybe. :) |
That must be for an earlier year Rob. Mine are M 8 panhead bolts, no lock washers. Stating ring gear is part of the flywheel on my 86.5. I torqued them to 33 Ft lbs . Should be good.

33 ft lbs. for the six front flex plate to flywheel bolts. No lock washers from memory and a check of the PET diagrams.
One must be careful to not exceed this ft lb. torque setting since you will strip the threads in the aluminum flywheel. BTDT. Cheers, |

Thanks Guys. 33 it is. Constantine clamp all torqued, lower bell housing back on and crank pulley bolt finally torqued. Woohoo! Now just have to get the headers on.
|
Thanks Greg!
For some reason I thought a portion of the flywheel was aluminum. At least it sure acted like it when I stripped the bolt hole. Good luck with the rest of your project Art. |
