Well Bless yore Heart!

Those pictures look like they were taken of my first '84 Euro.

You have your work cut out for you, my friend.

Any specific questions?

It will be fun, and fun to drive when done.

Is that ABS behind the driver side headlight, the box?

Yes, I believe it is. I wonder why it wasn't listed in the options?

To the OP: Have you tested compression yet? When these cars sit for a period of time, the acid created by the coolant left in the engine seems to disintegrate the head gaskets. It might be the time to pull the engine and do an upper engine refresh. Just sayin'

So was ABS optional on the 84.5 to 85 16v ROW cars?

These were the M options I gleaned from the VIN search on PET

M249 Auto Trans
M261 door mirror right
M406 Wheel Liners front L&R
M462 Securiflex windshield
M489 Switch insignia - German
M533 Factory Alarm

I went and looked again and it also had ------

I395 - M395 = Forged Anodized wheels
I415 - M415 = Widened track at rear - spacers
I417 - M417 = Rear Package box
I468 - M468 = Green Tint
I499 - M499 Securiflex windshield
I593 - M593 = ABS

You guys are great. Thanks for the info.
I have a lot to learn so have done many hours of reading.
It is amazing how much knowledge you all have and are willing to share.

No compression test yet, but car runs really good.
Has not been sitting for a long time, No major leaks and has been reasonably well maintained.

My biggest problem is electrical. Mucked up really bad.

My goal is to put it on the road as a dependable DD.

I imagine I will have a lot of questions.

ABS was certainly standard factory fit from MY84 for UK cars. Not sure about mainland Europe

AFAIK UK was first market to get standard ABS. LHD ROW cars only got it some years later. Its still not clear why some options are listed with I in PET.

Plans for a complete brake overhaul. Hope ABS is repairable.

My project list is long. :-(
