I timed Bill's record lap...8.8 seconds from exit berm of 15 to start finish....exactly the same as you? Pure power section......
Once my constantly changing work schedule gets finalized I will set a firm schedule for 2013.....
NASA GTS class is the goal......however the "costs" to run with NASA vs the actual track time is NOT cost effective..... 1 hour per day max.....I don't consider that fun..... But I still plan on getting my NASA license and running most events.....

you cant use this method. do you know how far you travel at 130mph in 1/10 of a second (timing accuracy) . Do you really understand what you are saying here?
also, look at Bills line out of the exit of the turn 13-14 complex. we have cans blocking out the wide line that Bill uses to get a run on the corner.
this is why, using video which does have some accurate time synch, is better. line up the videos or time them so both cars kind of hit the exit birm the same, and let the video fly! this is how you can see the accleration difference. you can also back it off for 2 turns prior to see if there is any "approach" advantages to the final turn. to answer my question, 1/10 of a second at 130mph, or near 200 feet per second is near 20feet, which is a pretty big difference, esepcially over a lap.
now, i suspect his car is on rails too, due to some professional set up on the chassis, and we all know what these cars can do with a WCGT set up, even low on power. The 928 just cant keep up with a fully modified C5 racer to near WCGT specs. it hangs well, especially at other types of tracks, but you have to remember, our cars are 15 years older!! thats huge. they are amazing, but do have limits unless you really start modifiying the 928. (I stilll use ALL stock , and 25 year old components. nothing has been modified. just a bolt on swaybar and a 15 year old, raced to death, but still functioning, koni suspension)
you see brian, you have to compare apples and apples. temp of the day and track conditions also. but, over time, if all done over the summer and over hot days, you can compare. thats what i like about looking at my times, i have them for over 15 years at thunderhill, at many times per year.
Now, Get your license and eventually, you will value the "RACE" more than the track time. thats when you are really into racing, not just lapping . but by the way, what you are doing is fantastic. you are improving with every session and running some hot times, slicks or not. BUT, now you might want to experience a REAL race and real competition and see what that feels like.

2007: "Hey Mark, how do you race one of these 928's"?
2013: "Hey Mark, see you at the track where I will kick your ***".
I love it. Now, how can I arrange to charge admission.
We'll call it; "The Grasshopper get's his groove on". Or maybe; "The thrills in the hills".
Stay tuned.

Explanation for the "slow" ones: This is in response to the earlier question how much horsepower to boost out of the car. Cheap, reliable, fast aren't all happening.

bottom line.....we need to all get out there on the SAME DAY...... "race" or not......
since everyone knows I am "not" a racer.....all my time in lemons and NCRC counts for nothing apparently....clearly I have no clue what I am doing since my driving suit doesn't have a SCCA or NASA patch.....since spending much more $$$ for far less track time is "real racing"..... but if I were to spend the $$$$ required by NASA and SCCA then I suddenly become a "real" racer....BS plain and simple....why does a rubber stamp come to mind
Bottom line amateur racing is AMATEUR racing....if I have to pay my hard earned $$$ to "race" I look for the best value for my $$$.....honestly SCCA or NASA is not it..... thats the truth
The more I think about it.....the more I am leaning towards my "old" path.....I know what I can do in MY car as it sits.....regardless of "race" or not....I can handle 160+ cars on track.....learned that in lemons......but once again its not "real".... I would think being on track with that many other non racers would teach you quite a bit....then I found out that "real" racers intentionally hit each other....I will have no part of that.....

That's by your own conflict on the issue.
We're just saying that in racing, your decision making changes radically...and the environment around you is going to be different.
Its a different environment..you're the only one beating you up over this.
Much the same way that racers are PROBLEMATIC people in HPDE groups, and in the early days of Lemons.
Its different...you're putting on your helmet for a different reason.

Lighten up and give yourself a hug, Brian. Everyone here is on your side, probably no one more than Mark.
You must understand that for most of us who have never, or at least no longer, get out there and rub fenders, there is a real vicarious payoff in seeing a 928 brother on the track spanking some competition.
For those of us paying attention to your struggles and triumphs over the last five or six years it has seemed like your ready, for a couple of years now, to get out there and start honing your fender to fender reflexes.
We're just looking for some cheap thrills on your dollar.
So get busy, Dude.
