Default Shift **** question

I am looking to replace the T-handle on my GTS and would like to stay with a Porsche part if possible - any one know if this 996 **** will fit and work?

Can you post more pictures of it - particularly from the underside?

Sorry Nicole, I was looking at this **** on e-bay which is where the picture is from. I was hoping someone might have prior experience with a 996 ****.

I'm not aware of anyone who has a **** like this installed in his 928. Until somebody takes a bit of a risk and tries it, we probably won't have a precise answer.

What's critical is how this **** would be attached, what diameter the bottom opening has, and how it would push down the actuator rod.

Gary Knox put a Volvo **** on his GTS. He bored it out to accept a bushing that was the right size for the shift post, and drilled holes on either side of the bushing for set screws that hold it in place. Then he cut down the actuator rod that transfers the button action in the **** to the detent release in the shift mechanism. A pretty impressive bit of work.

You might look for some of his posts on this to get an idea of how he did it. The same general approach would likely work on this or many other *****.

I had a couple of auctions for similar in my watch list, but haven't pulled the trigger due to the same concern, and lack of discernable time to do a good job to 'make it fit', if it doesn't.

Check 996 PET and WSM. I think mounting is different. Is it too different that its difficult to make it work in 928 I don't know.
